  1. Roger that! This picture is from a Mooneyspace illustration. 175KT is wrapped, tied-off, and fused for safety given the potential exposure of a short that could lead to a catastrophic electrical fire in the aft-compartment. ty for the heads-up. (:
  2. 175KT went this route. BatteryMINDer works as intended. Thanks to all for your suggestions. Case closed. jt
  3. Roger that: Cmd +R/ Cmd + S in Preview before uploading. jt
  4. Roger that! Several flipping iterations resulted in the picture posting properly. It's unclear which change worked. Back to the drawing board. At this point, getting the pic to post right side up is trial and error. Keep hope alive. jt
  5. FOR SALE: M20 starboard flap and two late model ailerons w/counterweights and 201 wingtips LOCATION: Delivery from KHWD possible within reason. The flap will require ($$$) freight. KHWD installation is possible. Additional pics of ailerons and 201wingtips to follow. All parts are leftovers from the 175KT restoration 20-yrs ago/summer hangar cleaning. PM for prices.
  6. Spike, What max manifold psi do you plan as a limit to keep from over-boosting the O-360? My RayJay experience is nada. Some here no doubt have critical #s below 5K' with that RayJay. It sounds like fun. Keep us posted. jt
  7. You know, four bolts plus the controls and the wing comes off?! 20-yrs ago an M20 wing from the dismantled was $7K.
  8. Roger that! One more thing. When you create an album, do you use a photo editor to change the order of pictures in the album? Cheers, jt
  9. Roger that Larry & Don. Will do. I was hoping to avoid another connection but the system worked 10/10 when the BatteryMINDer was attached to the BAT terminals using the kit's connectors. The point is, opening the panel to connect the BatteryMINDer everytime the AC is put in the hangar sucks. A separate discreet BNC for the BatteryMINDer will be a more sanitary installation. jt
  10. RE picture posting: Can pictures be rotated on this site? How? When a post includes 2 or more pics, can the order/sequence of the pics be changed on this site? How? Rotating the original picture on the camera 90* 4Xs and still having it post it here sideways, that effort is over. It is what it is unless there is an edit feature that allows changing the order and rotation of pictures after they have been downloaded to the site. jt
  11. (apologies-re picture rotation) The BatteryMINDer is no-op when connected through the external power cable (red plug). Add a parallel 12V BAT between the BatteryMINDer and the AC BAT and the BatteryMINDer charges. Connect the BatteryMINDer direct to the AC BAT and charging works normally. QUESTION: Can the BatteryMINDer tend the AC BAT without a 2nd BAT?! How? JETmachine

175KT (formerly 6458U) was modified with 16 Paul Loewen STC's including this special production of this 201 windshield cowling. Note the fuselage crown was cut to accept the full 201 windshields. Two inspection panels were added on the port and starboard side to simplify changing air filters and servicing the brake reservoir. The 201 windshield replaced the 1963 two-piece windshield which limited the 325 1963 M20C's Vnc to 194mph. 1/4" 201 windshields were tested to 240mph.

The 201 wingtips w/strobes & navigation lights include the VOR antennas. The 1993 M20C VOR antenna was attached to the vertical stabilizer. By removing the '63 antenna "splitter" allows the wingtip antennas to function. The plan originally called for the M20C ailerons to be replaced with M20J's because the J's counterweights are inside the wingtip (reduced drag). The plan didn't work. A set of J ailerons complete with c.weights and tips (damaged) plus the starboard flap are for sale here in the classified section.

175KT R&R the engine firewall forward. The O-360 (carburated) 180hp engine was replaced with a 1993 IO-360A3B6D fuel injected 200hp engine. All parts ahead of the firewall are from a 1993 M20J 24V airplane. Note the remote oil filter inboard of the scat heater hose. Intake tubes, valve covers, and wing stall fences were chromed by CA Hi Luster The 1963 shower spark system was removed. The ignition key was modified by eliminating the shower-spark plate. The 24V starter was replaced with a 12 V HiTork unit as was the generator. The bi-metal oil temperature unit was substituted for the 12V installation.

A 1993 IO360A3B6D single drive mag Lyc was STC'd to the 1963 airframe along with the 1993 M20J cowl. Note the firewall joggle that extends the cowl attachment forward 1" was required to fit the J cowl to the '63 airframe. The '93 Lyc is a 24V engine requiring a change of starter, alternator, bimetal oil sensor, removal of the shower spark system and Bendix ignition key shower spark tab. Installation includes the back of the engine oil cooler and the K&N air filter on the front. Note the inspection panel added to the front of the 1/4" 201 windshield frame.

Both the door and pilot's panel feature a cutout for extra elbow room. The three-tone custom leather design is shown on the door with darker leather lower lighter leather for the middle section and the lightest suede of the headliner at the top of the door. Note the vertical pillar aft of the door was painted black to unify the expanse of the curved (prized) windows.

The custom leather interior by Buchanan Aviation, Concord, CA features layered foams that adapt to body shape without distorting seating. The front seats are from a 1988 M20J. Front and back seats feature late model headrests with custom embroidery. The oxygen tank is attached to auxiliary mounts with matching upholstery. Side panels are two-tone leather topped off with a suede headliner. Extensive sound baffling throughout the cockpit reduces cockpit DB levels. Bose 10 with panel power reduces ambient cockpit noise to a whisper. Windows are 1/4" with gray and further reduce cockpit noise. The 1963 crank up step was removed and replaced with a vacuum step retract system.

The 1963 control horns were replaced with a 1993 set. The firm that covers the factory control horns was tasked with creating as many "French" seams as possible. The upper left control horn mounts the 1988 M20J electric trim controls. A 1988 electric trim bolts onto the 1963 bulkhead with no modifications (Mooney bulkheads remain unchanged over the years). PtoT and Autopilot on/off are installed on both control horms.

175KT is the third 180 M20C from the 1963 production line of 325 Mooneys. The restoration/modification includes a firewall forward 200HP 1993 M20J engine, cowl, and McCulley prop. The 175KT changes were inspired by a Roy LoPresti lecture where he described the creation of the 1977 M20J 201. 14 STC's were provided by Paul Lowen, Lazer Aero Styling founder. Note the window's vertical pillar is painted black to emphasize the curve and visibility of 1963 design.
