  1. Do you have a picture of the air dam? Is it considered a minor mod?
  2. My battery is already in the tail, so I do not have it in the way. What I want to do is to relocate the oil cooler to the baffling wall just behind cyl #4. I saw STC for that, but only for open style baffling. My plane still have the dog house. Upgrading it would probably involve another STC + $$$$ for new baffling. So, I am not sure I wanna go that route.
  3. I have 67 M20E which still has the dog house. I would like to relocate the oil cooler from the lower cowling. What are my options? The only available STC I found is for the open baffling. I do not mind getting rid of the dog house if that is the only way to relocate the oil cooler to the rear wall of the baffle, right behind the cylinder #4. That location looks best for me: minimal number of parts, shortest hoses etc. However, I could not find any info how to get rid of the dog house. My understanding is that Mooney got rid of the dog house the same year, but my airplane still has it.
  4. "same centers" - that is where I will get in trouble
  5. As I mentioned, the grease is not black because the IA who did last several annuals did not comply with AD.
  6. Will probably go that route. The large nut feels like tough to get out. So, maybe a tool with hardened pins will be needed.
  7. Surprisingly, the gears looks like new and pass the test specified in AD. It is the jackscrew bearing (in the picture) that does not pass my subjective smoothness test. To get to that bearing I need to remove the worm gear and undo the nut holding the bearing. Both nuts require special tools.
  8. Tried that carefully. Snap ring pliers are too weak for both nuts. Need better tools. Just do not want to ruin the expensive part.
  9. Please, do not get me started! I just got this plane and did not even fly it yet. And I am not going to until I check everything personally and my IA gives his nod and other experienced A&Ps exhaust their sarcastic jokes aka critical comments. As for the grease in the actuator - I am going to report the IA who did last several annuals! That actuator has never ever been taken off the plane, but the genius IA somehow "complied" with AD. There are other issues that directly affect safety and do not look like mistakes, more like a pure negligence. And you are talking about using the correct grease! I was pleasantly surprised to find some grease inside at all!
  10. Pictures of the nuts. Both needs to be taken out to replace the bearing.
  11. Anyone knows where to get the tool to undo the lock nut that secures the jackscrew bearing? This bearing is under the gear and mine needs replacement. Vik
  12. Anyone is interested in purchasing shock disks from https://avunlimited.co/ to combine shipping? Looks like shipping is fixed at $200/order. The shipping charge makes sense as shipping from SA with a courier delivery (with tracking number) can be expensive unless you are a big commercial outlet. I need to replace all shock disks in my Mooney, so I am considering to order.
