  1. I’m building a home flight simulator that mirrors my 2008 Acclaim G1000/700. I need an instrument panel with rocker switches. I do NOT need the circuit breakers, standby instruments, G1000, etc. I have that already. Many ideas of the least expensive way to get a real Mooney panel?
  2. The wires soldered onto back of trim switches can get brittle and break off. When you open it be very careful as most likely other wires will break off when you remove it. Watch for where the wires go. Wires need to be resoldered with shrink wrap and silicon to stabilize the wires against movement. After all that, the trim positions may need recalibration in the G1000.
  3. PaulM I would be interested in your info.
  4. Thanks Russ. That works. I’m calibrated now and it is working, except the flap IO module that was not connected.
  5. Above is true. I would like to have ads-b/NEXRAD. I wonder if Mooney will ever make it happen?
  6. Thanks. I got it working. To many Bluetooth connections had me confused. Bluetooth signal is weak coming from the tail also.
  7. The other day it was cold. In the cockpit I thought I could smell fuel. I think it was coming from the fuel selector. A few days later it is warm. I sniffed the fuel selector and didn’t not smell fuel. My theory is the fuel selector O rings are wearing out and contract with cold, leaking a fuel odor. Anyone have experience with this? could it be the gascolator drain? Lee
  8. Foreflight shows traffic with my Stratus. My GTX345 shows traffic on the G1000. Just no GTX345 traffic on the iPad (Foreflight).
  9. I noticed when my iPad is connected to the GTX345 I don’t get traffic in ForeFlight. Foreflight claims its its connected and I get AHRS data and weather. But no traffic. Anyone else?
  10. Can someone please educate me regarding the various fuel credit cards I see various FBOs participating in UVAir Epic Bravo etc. Any reason such as a fuel discount for an individual to use one of these?
  11. I'm fine tuning my checklist for my Acclaim with GFC700 autopilot. I have received conflicting advice regarding the AP master switch/breaker. Some say the engine should be started/stopped with the AP master off. Some people say they leave it on all the time and never mess with it. So does having it off somehow protect the AP electronics from dirty power/voltage on the electrical bus? Maybe there is another reason. The POH checklist (prior to engine start) says: 1) Circuit Breaker Switches (I think this includes AP) ..... All In. 2) Rocker switches (does this include AP) ....OFF Since the AP Master is also a circuit breaker rocker switch, you can see the source of the confusion. I just don't want to blow out an expensive AP! Thanks, Lee
  12. Ok. Got it guys! That is what I was thinking. Wanted to double check before I purchased an air compressor for the hangar.
  13. So for a new Mooney guy, what do you inflate your tires with? Air or nitrogen. Any advantage to nitrogen? I noticed Aircraft Spruce sells a nitrogen tank/regulator/hose kit for tire inflation. Seems like a lot of money to air up a tire. Am i missing something?
  14. Very nice Russ! Was going to ask you how you liked it.
  15. Yes. Please call me. I sent you a PM.
  16. My bird just had the GTX345 installed. It's been in the shop an extra week because they are having difficulties getting the G1000 software to complete the update. I dont know which software version I have. Prior owner never updated it. It's a 2008 Acclaim S. Seems I read a post several months ago describing this difficulty. I can't remember the solution. I want to say they had to put the old transponder back in, then update software, then installe the gtx345, but not sure. Anyone else gone through this?
  17. I had the Alpha systems AoA with HUD installed. Thanks for all the advice. Haven't got the plane back yet to try it out.
  18. Anyone have AOA on their G1000? How do you get it?
  19. Thanks! Maybe I don't understand, but I thought the advantage was to vary ignition timing---by preferably delaying it when full throttle to reduce detonation. It seems this device could do that, EXCEPT the other MAG is still operating with fixed timing, which at times would produce early ignition.
  20. ElectroAir.net apparently has an STC for several Mooney models and engines including M20TN and Continental IO-550.
  21. Anyone upgrade to the GTX345 and find a way to put ADSB weather on the G1000 instead of XM weather? Mooney tells me it won't work unless you upgrade the G1000 panels to NXI. Im about to do the GTX345 upgrade.
  22. Wanted: Ovation with G1000 and air conditioning. Clean. I'm located in Texas.
