  1. How do I remove O2 selector and vents in M20k 252? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I'm sure there is many many threads with this same question. Please forgive me for asking, it is just that the tapatalk forum search engine is less than optimum, and it returned no results. Q: WHAT ARE THE HI AND LOW CHT LIMITS I WANT TO RUN IN CRUISE? Not redline but what is best for making the cylinders last. My #2 cylinder runs significantly hotter than the rest (415ish) with the rest 380ish. If I cool # 2 down, the rest get very cool. Should 410-415 CHT concern me? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Well that was quick Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Pulling the breaker seemed to do the trick. Thanks Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Is the Hobbs meter that is located on the side of the center console (by the co-pilot's left leg) actually Tach time or Hobbs time (battery on to off)? There is no meter on the tach gauge. If it is Hobbs and not tach time, how do I get an accurate tach time? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I didn't think it did. I usually use 15w50 but someone recently told me that the 100 wt or straight mineral worked better in turbo engines because the abuse. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Turbo owners, what type of oil do you use in your engine? And why? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. So what is the safe level to run an MB? I was thinking that 6 min - 8 max, is there any risk or issues with running 6 to 6.5? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Last flight it spit .75 qt in 3 hrs. ARGGGHH I'm not liking this. I read the SB, is there some other way to check the crank case pressure other than an airspeed indicator? I don't have any of those lying around. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. I will give it a try. I've tried holding down the reset button a number of times. Is there some sort of trick to reset it, like I have to have memory off while holding button greater than a certain number of seconds? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. My M20K has a factory installed Hoskins FT101. It displays flow correctly but will not reset the totalizer. Recently the fuel totalizer went over 999.9, so now the totalizer just displays a giant period with no numbers. I would like to be able to rest it per flight so I know what I'm using. Any ideas? 12. Great questions. I usually fill to 7.5. It is hard to say on first hour because of the durations of flights recently. The plane has a fresh oil change. It was happening pre oil change recently, it is just all my flights were shorter in duration, so wasn't as bad. Average appears to be 1/4 qt per hour. I'm positive it is coming from the breather because the extreme cleanliness of everything else around the breather and the oil dripping directly from inside the breather post flight. Here are my last flights since oil change in order: 1. 4 hrs, start 8 qt, finish 6.5 qt 2. 3.8 hrs, start 7 qt, finish 6.5 qt 3. 2 hrs, start 7qt, finish 6.5 4. 4 hrs, start 7.5, finish 7.25 5. 3.4 hrs, star 7.25, haven't checked finish yet but still visible oil on belly At the end of every flight I had visible oil on the belly of the aircraft. The oil is still fresh and clean even though it has been 17.5 hrs since oil change. Oil is AS 15w50 with camguard Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. I'm having a similar issue. 1/4 qt of oil per hour out the breather. Clean oil so not burnt from ring blow by. What's the first step to diagnose? Did the MBs come with an oil separator? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. That's good stuff. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Well the key would be to find an Acclaim cowling to either use or make a mold. It would probably cost the price of a M20K to buy an Acclaim cowling from Mooney....but hey, with them made in China, won't be long before knock-offs right? BTW, I'm not saying I have the time, skills, or money to do this...I was just hoping to hit a string in someone else with the good idea fairy, so I could reap the benefits.
  16. Erik, It would have to be either a Field Approval or STC, depending on if you wanted to put into production. It seems like it would be an easy kill with a rocket. I bet an Acclaim cowling would fit right on a rocket.
  17. Has anyone ever made an upgraded cowling for the M20K (in particular 252)? I asked the LoPresti gang and Curt said they were going to but decided not to b/c the market size. I really think there is some more speed to be gained in the 252 from better aerodynamics up front. I wonder if an Acclaim cowling could be used to make a mold and then modified for the right size. I reckon the inlet air could be substantially less b/c the TSIO360. Anyone want to let me borrow their Acclaim cowling for a few days to make a mold (yeah right, ha ha, I can't even type it with a straight face). Any crazy thoughts? (other than mine) Cheers Joe
