No less than 4 times. Downwind, Base, Final, and short final (threshold). I like the "point" part, and try to do that myself.

Ok, I have decided that I want to buy an airplane, a Mooney 201J. Don't want to discuss the pros cons or mission requirements. What I need is some advice from all you folks with experience, how do I handle been out of the country four to five months a year.

Thanks all, this is the type of information I was looking for. Still think a J is my best choice for the mission I have in mind, short to mid trips, low altitude with no time constraint.

I have pretty much made up my mind that a J will fill my needs, and have been looking for a couple of months. Now the question, with so many good deals on K's and a couple of Missiles are they really worth it if I don't really want to go high and mess with oxygen? I know I contradicted my first sentence but Just wondering what others would say.

I could have written this post; everything you said, including where you are based, applies to me. I mad my decision a year or so ago and have been looking. I think I missed so good deals, but was out of the country at the time (currently out of the country). We should compare notes, once I get back in country. -

Hello all, Brand new to the site, really enjoy reading all the posts. I have been doing research on purchasing an airplane ever since the wife did not object too much when I casually mentioned the topic. I have settled on a Mooney M20J as the aircraft best suited for our mission. I am lookign for any "hidden costs" associated with aircraft purchase and ownership in Florida. It seems there is always something that is overlooked or assumed when folks complete their purchase.
