I think it can make sense either after a long period, to reset accumulated errors over numerous recalculations for modification and for accumulated repairs, gunk, etc. I've done it a few times for people after major alterations, too, to save having to recompute everything for a large number of significant changes (e.g., refurbs on experimental aircraft). It can save a lot of work for cases like that. Quote
