mjc Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 The gear down annunciator light on my 1969 M20C appears to have burned out. While returning home on today's flight, it came on when I dropped the gear, but was out again before we landed. (The mechanical indicator works fone, and the gear was locked down.) It didn't come on when pressing the push-to-test button. I removed the transparent plastic cover over the bulb, and found that the bulb is recessed pretty far in the panel. Gently pushing on it while turning didn't free it. So, does anyone know how to get the bulb out? And does anyone know what kind of replacement bulb I need? Is there an LED replacement? Thanks! Quote
conom06d Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 dont know but im kinda in the same boat. My red indicator light for gear unsafe flickers and is dying until i push to test. The contact in the back is nearly missing. I would possibly try tweezers with some rubber on it (maybe a streched rubber band) to grip and twist the bulb out Quote
Stefanovm Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 Use tubing from pet store for fish tank air. There is a size that slips on the bulb and will normally pull bulb before slipping off. Quote
mjc Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 What I've learned about the annunciator lights now that mine are all working again: - the bulb may not be dead; it may just be a loose contact - the annunciator bulbs are GE 330s - the bulbs are installed from behind the panel Quote
