Wanted: Mooney block time, LA/Camarillo/SoCal area!
ViperOrbit posted a topic in General Mooney Talk
Howdy all — I’m looking to purchase block time in a Mooney (any model) in the larger Los Angeles area for a minimum of 50-100 hours. Non-equity partnerships welcome. Looking for 6 months (until June ‘22) or a year (until Nov ‘22), doesn’t have to be exclusive use, I just want to be able to take the airplane IFR/cross country every so often in the above time period. My qualifications: 900+ hr TT, 180 ME, 285 hr complex, 230 hr HP, 86 hours instrument, CFII/MEI. Happy to do any checkout the owner/insurance deems necessary, haven’t raised the insurance rates in previous airplanes I’ve been added to due to CFI and military flight time. Been a fan of Mooney airplanes for a long time, there’s little/no Mooneys in the LA area to rent, I’m active duty military due for a move in the next year so buying isn’t the right move for me right now (though I plan to be a Mooney owner in the near future!). I realize such an arrangement is probably quite rare but hopefully there’s someone in the LA area that could benefit from a short-term block time sale! Willing to be flexible so open to any leads. Thank you all for your time.- 2 replies

Making arrangements for a rental car has not always been straightforward, particularly at the smaller airports. Arriving after hours Is often a dealbreaker for many FBO's. I would try to make arrangements online or by the standard call-in number. A simple rental frequently turned into a mess and I never knew if a car would actually be available when I arrived. NOT ANY MORE! I'm not trying to endorse any specific rental company.....I just happen to use Enterprise/National. I learned of a specific department Enterprise has dedicated to pilots. Talking to somebody who understands what an airport identifier is and what FBO stands for is really refreshing. Now when I call, I provide the airport identifier, date and approximate time I will arrive and the vehicle is there, ready to go-even after hours. When you're done, just park at the FBO and walk away. No paperwork to complete (before or after), no credit card issues etc.. The information is contained in your file. Additionally, the rental generates credits towards free future rentals. If the FBO already has rentals, they will work directly with them. There is no extra cost for this service and I typically receive discounts (5-10%) not available elsewhere. The Enterprise rental number is 877-421-3722 (Sorry, I don't know if Avis, Budget or any other rental agency has a similar service). Perhaps this tid-bit will make someones life a little easier-It helped me.

I'm a former Mooney owner in the Portland, Oregon area looking for opportunities to rent time from another owner and explore partnerships in the future. I've got 500+ Mooney hours as a I was a M20F and M20K owner for 10+ years. Thought it would a great way for someone to defray some costs by renting to me. Thanks David altmandj@me.com
