I have an 81 J and often carry camping gear, golf clubs, etc and rarely carry anyone in the rear seat. Since my rear seat configuration is bench style (non folding) and connected by 4 bolts, removing just the seat back would cure my space problem. I understand W&B, required equipment, etc will be offered as concerns but would like to hear some feedback from the group or any experiences with this. Thanks, Rick

ALCON, I'm sure that some of you on this board are airline pilots and may be aware of what I'm posting. For the others, please read. Following some high-profile crashes due to fatigue, the FAA adopted new regulations for pilot rest. The new rules are similar to European guidance and incorporate circadian rhythm to the max extent possible. However, cargo pilots were excluded from the enhanced rest rules. Why? My short answer is that it's a money issue. It's cheaper to pay the families of a handful of pilots than a passenger airliner of 100-200 in the event of a crash. Regardless of your opinion, its a fact GA shares some of the same airspace and airports as cargo operators and you should at least be aware of the potential conflict. If you are so inclined, I'm attaching a link to the CAPA website so you can send a quick email to your congressman to establish a single level of safety. Thanks again for the consideration and support. http://www.capapilots.org/cargocarveout Don Thigpen

Ok what is the oddest thing you have hauled in your Mooney? Tonight I loaded a Rototiller in my Rocket for a 600 mile trip in the morning! Pain in the tail had to cover everything with protective covers, first. Then right in through the luggage door no problem!
