I have an 81 J and often carry camping gear, golf clubs, etc and rarely carry anyone in the rear seat. Since my rear seat configuration is bench style (non folding) and connected by 4 bolts, removing just the seat back would cure my space problem. I understand W&B, required equipment, etc will be offered as concerns but would like to hear some feedback from the group or any experiences with this. Thanks, Rick

Does anyone know what size cotter pins are supposed to be installed on the seat track to prevent the seat from coming off? I removed four cotter pins that would hold up anchor chains. Would like something a little easier next time.

I am installing a newly upholstered set of seats and when removing the rear bench seat I found these massive steel springs under the lower seat cushion (see photo). I think I remember reading somewhere that the foam used these days is better and the springs can be removed...any other opinion? I'm leaning towards removing because when I took the bench seat out the springs were folded backwards which caused scratches on the aluminum. Dave C
