  1. Perry? Thanks. I wouldn't mind having a look at the install if you are ever in Calgary or should I get a chance to fly out to the island. Seems like you're happy with the results and they're worth the price.
  2. Agree with the posts on Aeroweather, Skycharts, Pilot WIZ, IO360 and AOPA directory. Very useful apps. Some others to consider: Radar Canada and Canada Radar - latter will show your GPS position Instrument suite from IAWARE - Useful in a loss of airspeed, attitude, altitude or gyro instruments? Air Navigation PRO - good VOR, HSI and ADF from Xample Decibel - How noisy is your plane? iVibrometer - keep tabs on vibration readings, may give you a warning if something is wearing out in your engine. It is legal to use your iphone in the airplane in Canada, so a lot of useful applications for flying are available. Some of these would be great on an iPad. Check out http://aviatorapps.com/ for a whole lot of other apps.
  3. At 5'5 I think I may fit into the Mooney vertically challenged category. I have flown my bird for a few years without any pedal extensions and although I am used to the airplane, I still feel as if the Mooney is a pretty snug fit. Probably because I sit a little closer to the yokes than in any other plane that I have had. Last one was a Commander, which is known for its carlike interior. For those that have installed the extensions, does the kit include new pedals or is the kit simply a bracket that puts the existing pedals more aft? I have looked at the drawing posted by Amelia, but I can't figure out what is included in the STC. Reading what others have posted, I think I will try the wooden block sizing trick and most likely lean toward the 3" extensions.
  4. Interesting idea with the RAV4 headrests. Looking in the parts catalog, SN 832 & on E-models (mine is 980), do have the headrest support tubes in the seat backs. Does anyone have an idea what the dimensions are for the headrests and also the centerline tube spacing for the supports? Once installed would these be adjusable? For those who have gone this route, how well do the posts fit inside the tubes?
  5. Thanks. Hopefully we can all meet at one of the Fly-ins in the area. Russ would probably be familiar with my bird as most of the refurb was done by another pilot in the area. He did a super job. The airplane doesn't need much more. It has a low time engine, System 30 AP, Garmin stack, EI MVP-50 and an awful lot more. I run with a BK AV80r Ace with charts, WX and TFC. but like most everyone there is always something to wish for. As time and money allows I would like to upgrade with an Aspen EFD and possibly slightly more comfortable seats. My Xmas list is being made up as we speak.
  6. Hello Everyone Steve Here. Just recently found this site. What a great source of information and know how!! My M20e rec'd a total redo in '07 and is a beautiful A/C to fly. It's my third plane and while the others were great,(had a '74 Grumman AA5 and '78 Commander 112TCA) the Mooney is by far the fastest and most efficient (hence XPD-ite). Look forward to talking with you all.
