With the exception of the seat inserts, I think the interior looks above average. The carpet, side panels, headliner, and panel overlay all look very good. The panel is well equipped too. The paint looks OK and in my opinion original paint is a plus if it is good. If I had a bigger budget, I would consider it. Good luck.

FBO Horror Stories (Linden NJ - LDJ)
smitty9006 replied to GeorgePerry's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
Sorry to hear about your bad treatment George. You would think that in this economic climate businesses would be appreciative of every customer. I work part time on the flight line at Clearwater Airpark, KCLW, and I would love to see more Mooneys. The beach is only minutes away, gas is reasonable, and one overnight fee is waved with fuel purchase. Here's the link, http://www.clearwaterairpark.com Albert Whitted, KSPG, in St. Pete is also a great place to visit. You can eat at The Hangar restaurant and watch the planes come and go. Tropicana Field is just own the road so you could fly in, eat, and watch a Rays playoff game. http://www.stpete.org/airport/ -
Wow! Beautiful plane. If it looks even better in person that is amazing. Congrats.

While looking for a Mooney on Barnstormers I came across and ad for a Meyers with a link to a Meyers owners group website. It looks like an interesting plane, anyone know anything about them? http://www.barnstormers.com/cat.php?mode=search'>

I understand completely, I hope to be in the same position soon. Looking forward to seeing it. Regards and safe flying...

Quote: smitty9006 Congrats! Which one did you buy? I'm checking sites every day so there is another one I'll have to scratch off the list.

If you loose a blade with a three blade, you still have two. If you loose a blade on a two blade... Just trying to lighten it up. I do appreciate everyone's input though. Thanks.

I hear you and agree with you Dave. Although I have not flown in the plane, I have spoke with the owner. He is a very nice guy and the plane is almost exacly what I am looking for. I am not too concerned about it not having any speed mods and I like the fact that it has been well looked after. I too think that the extensive logs and records warrent a premium. I just can't take on the expense on an overhaul if I pay 50K plus for a plane.
-
That's a shame. Even at $39,000 that is a deal killer and he's asking a lot more than that.
-
Quote: smitty9006 That makes sense. Can you get a good shop to do a rebuild for 15K? At that price you could do an overhaul and still be in it for a fair deal.

I don't mind the panel or the prop as much as the engine time. What would be a fair price for a plane like this? If it could be bought right, with a new engine in a couple of years, it would be a really nice plane.
-
Hi All, take a look and let me know what you think. It looks good to me with the exception of engine time. Thanks. http://www.barnstormers.com/listing_images.php?id=455143 It's also on MAPA http://www.mooneypilots.com/

Thanks Mooneygirl and all for the encouragement. While we didn't take any photos, there were plenty of folks around for the shirt cutting. Also, when I was walking in afterwards, a couple of seasoned aviators said congratulations and shook my hand. Needless to say I felt really proud of how things went. Now for today, the first part of the lesson was going out with Jack and reviewing prior lessons. After that he got out and I did some more solo touch and goes. On the second one the tower switched the pattern from right to left and I think I adapted well although the landing wasn't quite perfect with a little more float down the runway than I would have wanted. The next couple landings were not as good as yesterday due to coming in high and touching down faster than I should have and consequentially using a good amount of runway. On one of them the tower asked me to tighten up the base to accommodate traffic and I ended up higher than usual, put the nose down too much and came in hot. Since I had the option, I opted to do a full stop and then go out again. Jack and I reviewed the landings and I got some good feedback that I will learn from. When I got home I watched the landing chapters of my Sporty's instructions again because I really want to do better next time. Tomorrow we are going to start on cross country preparation and I'm really looking forward to my first one.

Wow, I soloed this morning and it was awesome! I am still up in the air so to speak and can't wait until my next flight tomorrow morning. My instructor is Jack Tunstill at KSPG and I cannot say enough good things about him. Simply put, he is the best and I am very fortunate to have been referred to him by a Mooney owner that I met via Mooney Space Forums. Thanks for the referral Mike. One day I'll own a Mooney too.

Aspiring pilot and future Mooney Owner

I just spoke to Falcon and they have written policies for student pilots but not many. Even with joining MAPA it would still be about double the experienced rate. I think the best thing for me to do is learn in a Piper or Cessna, then buy my Mooney. I wouldn't want to damage a plan learning to land and it would be more economical. With that said, I appreciate everyones participation in this thread. MooneySpace is fantastic and so are the people in the Mooney community. Thanks. -

Parker, One quote was for 4,800 for the first year from Tom at AirPower. Tom is a great guy and was very positive and enthusiastic about helping out. I guess one way to look at it is 4,800 might be double the experienced rate but then I would be learning in my own Mooney right from the start. I could possibly roll the additional 2,400 into the finance, less down payment? I am still waiting for another quote from a different company but they were not as sure that I could even get coverage for a Mooney. With that said, they were very helpful and pleasant. Someone who sells planes thought that it would be difficult for me to solo in my own Mooney due to insurance restrictions requiring me to fly with a CFI. Jeff, thanks for the info on Sun N Fun. I hope to see some Mooneys and Mooney fans there. -

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Anyone going to Sun-N-Fun? I plan on going on Friday. What can I expect as far as Mooney's being there? -
Looking for a Mooney owner and CFI in Tampa Bay willing to help. My intention was to buy a Mooney M20E and learn to fly but the reality is that insurance costs are prohibitive. Would anyone be willing to take on the challenge of teaching me to fly in their Mooney? Of course I would pay all expenses and I will help with maintenance, upkeep and shop/hangar chores. I am 49 years old and I have some training hours from many years ago plus recent study with AOPA and Sporty's courses. I have worked at the same company for 30 years, been married for 26 years and have two kids in college. Thoughts?

Hi All, I live in Seminole FL and want to start flying again and possibly get an older Mooney M20C, E, or F. I would gladly split expenses for some Mooney time, just observing and going along for the ride. Thanks, Dan

Hi Mike, What is the partnership deal? Any experience restrictions? I live in Seminole and would like to hear about if if it is still open. Thanks, Dan

Hello, I just joined and I am impressed with the knowledge shared in the forums. I am thinking about buying a M20C, E, or F. Of course I want a good deal with most of the major high expense issues already sorted out. I would rather spend more up front as opposed to getting a great deal and spending a lot later. IFR would be nice but not mandatory- same goes for electric gears. Could anyone give me some specific planes to look at on the major sites as examples of planes worth considering? Thanks, Dan
