  1. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but if you connect the transducer to the JPI and remove the FP5-L you'll lose almost all the functionality of the Fuel Computer, won't you? I thought that the JPI only displayed current flow, and didn't measure fuel used, remaining, T to E, etc.
  2. I highly recommend, based on other's recommendations, that you not put the OAT probe there. The factory puts them out on the wing - which is where I put mine (on the left side), and it is very accurate. When I was installing mine I was told that in the air inlets on the fuselage would be subject to prop wash and inaccuracies.
  3. I dont think the ECI is a big deal (granted, I don't have to do it). I don't think that not having it is grounds for a 7k deduction, nor do I think that it's indicitive of an owner skimping on maintenance. Most likely, those that have it have not yet encountered a need to overhaul their prop. It's just an inspection, not a big deal. If you check out the November MAPALog, Jimmy Garrison suggests that you subtract 1500 for the Hartzell that requires the ECI
  4. Barry, I think we crossed paths once. Do you keep your plane at AWM? Who's doing your annual?
  5. I agree also. The MAPA membership is not expensive. The resource is fantastic. I can't think of any reason why a Mooney owner would not be a member.
  6. Who did your Aspen install? I'm considering one on a 65E and am not too far from you...
  7. After answering the number of hours I fly per year by clicking the mouse a few times, I thought I'd plug the website I use to keep an electronic copy of my logbook. www.Freepilotlog.com I am in no way associated with the site and I came across it by searching one day well over a year ago. It handles everything I need and comes complete with some very hand sort/search functions. Being that it's web-based, it's accessible from anywhere, which is nice for me. Anyone else using something similar?
  8. I have 175 hours thusfar YTD. I guess I average about 200.
  9. Is anyone using WingX? It appears to be a multi-platform competitor for ForeFlight. It's got a moving map, though I'm not sure how well it'll work on the iPhone's GPS which requires cellular-assist.
  10. I made about a 750nm leg in my 1965 M20C with the standard 52 gal tanks and not much help from the wind. From S27 to KBBW, had 7 gallons left when I put her down... You've gotta love the flexibility of these birds.
