  1. If Lycoming actually concealed known defects do you really want tort reform?

First, tHe article did not state that the plane was overloaded. It stated the plane was near its maximum weight.

Second, the jury found that the crash was caused by a faulty carberator - therefore even if the plane was overloaded that possible fact did not cause the crash.

Third, the jury apparenty found that Lycoming concealed a known defect. For the moment assume that Lycoming did conceal the defect. If this is true why ask for "tort reform" to protect Lycoming?

Finally, the court may reduce the jury award depending on the circumstances.

  2. The paint is 97% done.  So I decided to post the recent progress. The Mozley Paint shop in Overland Park Kansas located at OJC did a great job.  White, with red and 2 shades of silver.  All panels were removed, including the 40 or so access panels, the gear doors, all the bottom panels, and all of the control surfaces were removed and separately sanded and painted with primer and paint.  New screws and a new N number.  Now for the interior shop next door and maybe by 2/1/2001 the plane will be ready.

  3. I did the 201 Lasar installation.  If you move various parts, including the brake fuel reservoir and the vacuum pressure regulator you can create a lot of ease of access.  I also did a complete panel modification before the window installation.  The instuments are easy to get to. There is no right answer between the lasar and SWTA, however the Lasar installation does look a lot better and there is no potential for water leaks (I had this problem when water got into my instruments with the old panel access).

  4. I just had my airplane modified by Raul Bueno. He has a hanger at East KC Airport about 5 miles east of independence missouri.  He worked on my plane for about 3 weeks. He did a great job and essentially installed most every mod available for my airplane, including the belly and 201 window.  He has all the tools and is an excellent sheet metal mechanic.

I highly recommend him.  Please respond and I will give you his information. If you like visit my posting in this forum. It shows his work and progress.

At this time my airplane is in the paint shop at Johnson County Executive with Mozley's painting .  They also are doing an excellent job.
