  1. Quote: Mooney65E I installed an EDM 800 in 2001 and upgraded to the 830 in 2010. Never had any problems with the probes, even those which share space with my Tanis engine warmer. Phil, you're not becoming demented with age, it's the JPI manual!!! I too had trouble weeding through the installation and programming instructions in the manual that also shares information about various other JPI products.
  2. We got the new baffling in a few days ago. What a difference! No more doghouse, and I like the oil cooler relocation. Dont have it all installed yet.
  3. Actually, I decided to go with the SWTA mod. I am going through an engine OH and need all new baffling the SWTA kit has it so I will use it. I will report with pictures when I have it finished.
  4. The Aspen gives you true dual power (vac AI and elec Aspen with battery backup). This is IMO an added mesure of safety. To get the same level of safety you will have to add a standby vac system. How does tha factor in with mission/cost?

  6. Thats correct. I am just after frames. I have not started a search yet, sounds like it will be tough to find some seats. If I do not search I am sure to find nothing, with a good look around who knows....
  7. Not yet. I will sure post if/when I do.
  8. Ned, What model were you looking to pilfer seats from?
  9. I am in the planning stages for a new interior. I think this will de an AIRTEX DIY. I would like to get some new to me front seats that adjust up and down, also I want headrests. All of this is happening in a 1965 M20E. My question is will seats from another M20 fit on my seat rails? (using seats from a 252 for example) I am thinking I can find some in a salvage yard and have them redone. Thanks for any ideas.
  10. All that for 2-3 Kts? It is hard to believe that this was a financially viable move for Lycoming.
  11. Got it and it looks good. I will have my IA look it over and hopefully get started soon. Bikes in the back! Can't wait.
  12. Quote: marktrav I've developed a technique that I discovered quite by accident. If I've been given a slam dunk, or I've been asked to keep my speed up, I just wait until I get to the point where I need to slow down and go downhill, and I roll in full nose up trim, and keep a level attitude by applying progressively more pressure on the yoke to keep from gaining altitude. Granted, if I ever loose control of the yoke, I risk gaining altitude, and I do risk getting a cramp in my arm from the forward yoke pressure, but I can't argue with the results. I don't know if it's the increase tail plane incidence or what, but I slow down quickly, then I can throw out the gear, then the flaps, and can land in 500 feet. Mark
  13. I have an Accu-Trak II linked to my PC and love it. The only thing I wish it had was an approach mode. For X-country flight it is unbeatable. Had a servo go bad on me and it was about $100 to fix try that with S-Tec. Customer service from Brittain is top notch as well. Just my two cents.
  14. That looks great and USEFUL! How did you do it?
  15. I would rather be on the ground wishing I was in the air than in the air wishing I was on the ground.
  16. I would guess the controller made a mistake. If you don’t get a clearance limit (cleared to XXX). Make sure you ask for clarification.
  17. I have seen this electric vaccum cut-off in a few other threads. Where did you find it? What are the specs?
  18. Spoke with LASAR this morning all they could offer was Mooney part #
  19. I am in the process of upgrading my fuel tank drain on my '65 E model. I want to do a 201 style tank drain. It is basically a nut plate modified by Mooney for use with F391-53S tank drain. The problem is Mooney wants $180 for a nut plate. A $180 NUT PLATE!! I know airplanes are expensive but wow. Does anyone know what the MS or AN number of the nut plate Mooney starts with so I can get one and modify it? Thanks for any help. James
  20. So I have decided to go ARI on the cowl. Speed test N S E W avg GS 23" MAP 2400RPM 5500' MSL about 350 CHT power boost off 148.7 KTS. That is before mod, I will do the mod this month or next as I am resealing my tanks now. I will post again with speed and temps after mod.
