Dear Mooney Pilot, Our last event, at Ormond Beach, was held on a pretty VFR day. We had 4 Mooneys and several cars bring in 16 people for a very pleasant lunch at the River Bend Golf Cafe. Our next event will be in two weeks on Saturday, April 11, at Sebring (SEF). Carol Ann Garratt will be speaking after lunch about her recent record around the world flight in her Mooney. We will meet at 11:30 as usual, order about noon, and start the program after lunch, probably about 1:15. PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS PRACTICAL IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRY TO MAKE IT BY E-MAILING ME AT daveanruth@aol.com. Usual rules apply, if you say you are coming and can't at the last minute, don't worry about it. But, it would be very helpful to know about how many are trying to come so I can warn the restaurant and try to have enough seating in the conference room for the program. Dear Mooney Pilot, We had great weather and an interesting time at our last lunch. We did a last minute switch from Premier next door to the new restaurant at Banyan called Jet Runway Cafe. The food was good, and they put a long table up so we could sit together. This month we will be meeting at Ormond Beach (OMN) at the River Bend Golf Cafe. It is a very nice place about a two minute walk from the FBO's office. Please e-mail me at daveanruth@aol.com by Thursday night if you are going to try to make it so I can give the restaurant and idea of how many to expect. Dear Mooney Pilot, Wes Dale, our good friend and cook for Saturday has been hospitalized with blood clots in his leg, and will not be available for our scheduled lunch at Premier this Saturday, February 14. Therefore, Premier is canceling the event. Instead we will be going to the Jet Runway Cafe, also at Fort Lauderdale (FXE) at 11:30. This is a new restaurant run by a company that caterers meals for corporate and charter aircraft. They have salads in the $7.50 to $10 range and sandwiches in the $9 to $10 range. There will be no program, just our usual lunch / visit. I have not been there, but got the following information about it from Premier: I checked with Banyan, there is no fee to land when going to the Jet Runway Café. They said to fly right into the Banyan terminal. They will help put your plane in a spot. The café is open from 7 am to 3 pm. If anyone is driving, it is west on Commercial off the I-95 ramp. Turn right on NW 21st Ave. Watch for Runway Café Banners on your right. Their phone number is (954) 958-9900 If possible, please let me know by tomorrow afternoon if you are still coming, or not so I can have an idea of how many to expect, and can notify the restaurant.
