This year we've decided to try Sun N Fun, so I'd like to know what route and stops along the way would you guys use. Our last known stop will be Clare Mi 48D to visit friends. I have limited experience in the U.S. & have never flown south of Mi. It will be VFR using flight following. We're looking for low cost fuel, close to the airport food & rooms (if required due to weather). I'd prefer to stay away from larger airports but controlled or uncontrolled dosen't matter.
Thanks in advance
Ron
I bought my 1970 M20F 3.5 years ago with aprox. 400hrs on a rebuilt engine (prop strike) and one year later with about 500 hrs on the engine the crank seal started leaking & was replaced by a MSC. Now just 2 years & about 270hrs later the seal has started leaking again. The previous time it was replaced, the AME checked crankshaft end play & run out, both were in specs. Is this an ongoing problem with Lycoming engines? I owned a C152 before this & noticed in the logs that the cranl seal was replaced several times before we acquired the plane ( Lycoming 0-235). I always run the engine at the specs called for in the oringinal POH & use the oil that the MSC recomends. Any one have any ideas on this?
Thanks
Ron
Last summer arriving CYAM we were cleared right base for 30. Before calling established, I was slowing down looking for the white arc when tower calls and says LMB keep your speed up your number 1 in front of the king air on 5 mile final. I'm sure I had a mooney grin then.
