  1. I just scheduled some work with them and Rachel has been very responsive
  2. My recent (and first) annual with my plane had my mechanic telling me the lower mounting bracket for my dual mag was missing, most likely due to it being under torqued. That was terrifying to hear and does make me concerned that there's one failure point in the sense that if it comes off the engine, the engine stops, but I haven't seen an alternative that seems more robust overall.
  3. There are other threads on here about this subject. Some say it works well, some say it's junk and the reverted the change. There's quite a bit that has to be setup with a small backup battery etc, so over 10k sounds right to me from when I started researching the posts on this. I think also the electroair may have a single point of failure for how it gets the engine rpm for it's timing, but I can't remember.
  4. I've got Bruce's full set (fuselage, wings, tail) except for the prop (thinking about it). I would love a hangar, but none within 40 minutes... I also have a Bruce travel cover and always keep it in the plane. It works great and keeps moisture out. Highly recommend Bruce's, always pleasant to work with.
  5. I put on some gloves and nothing came off when I ran my hand over the exhaust, so it seems alright. As far as I can tell.
  6. My 79 J is out of rig requiring left rudder in cruise and very very little right rudder in takeoff climb. Obviously I want to fix this, but it's almost like it helps keep the plane coordinated for power on stalls...
  7. Is it already certified for the m20 series?
  8. Idk my Walmart feels like a an active zombie movie. But I haven't been to a Kmart in forever.
  9. Idk maybe there's something weird about my plane, just wanted to clarify. It's also earlyish because I think the J series started in 77.
  10. This is a 79 J model
  11. Should I just look for cracks/gaps or is there a particular technique to finding issues in the exhaust?
  12. Oh that's good to know, thanks for the heads up
  13. I just ordered some wash wax all (blue and red) and I've been hoarding blue rolls of towels since I found them at Costco for no reason other than forgetting I already have some at home already, so I think I've got the required equipment, need to wipe down the whole plane
  14. Gotcha, this is the best photo I have at the moment.
  15. Sure looks like a crack as I look back through my photos, I'll be able to check when I get home in a couple of days -- I have a co sensor that hasn't ever shown any issue (reads 0 in flight). I noticed the missing screw too, anyone know what style and size they are? What does exhaust stack refer to? The muffler and everything under the cowling?
  16. Ya I run ROP, ok thanks for the insight, glad to know it's normal and to stop touching it
  17. No I just noticed this before going out of town so I haven't had a chance to monitor it's build up.
  18. So I shouldn't taste test is what you're saying... But is this normal then? I'm assuming there isn't extra lead in the fuel here beyond what's normal
  19. I was under my 79 m20J the other day and noticed some white powder residue trailing from the exhaust down the belly. Any idea what this means? Is a cylinder burning oil or something?
  20. Oh ok I figured I could find toggle switches with the breakers in them as well. I bought this plane about a year ago and it's got a panel that won't need an upgrade for a decade plus ideally, so I'll probably need new switches before doing much else.
  21. What am I legally allowed to change myself? Can I swap these out myself? I can take things apart and put them back together fine (most of the time), but I don't know a whole lot about electrical (I know basics, but don't know when I'm screwing something up necessarily) -- I assume these should be pretty trivial to swap out though.
  22. I like the look and feel of the toggle switches best anyways, so that's part of the motivation. I'm just not sure if a toggle switch will fill out all the space the current switch does in the panel.
  23. How do I tell if the breakers are having issues? Everything seems to be functioning fine but a couple of the covers are either popping off or rubbing when actuating them.
  24. Fair enough, guess I could have answered that myself. that's exactly what I want to do in my panel though, I have old switches that are starting to fall apart.
  25. What do toggle switches look like?
