To my best knowledge I was told to keep CHT's low 380's to keep the engine happy even if you have to crack the cowl flaps open a little. Speed loss when they are half open is probably 1-2kts. Gas is less expensive than cylinders or premature turbo overhaul. Last time I was up at 17k TAS was 180kt at 17.7 GPH with hottest cylinder at 383 and TIT 1595. I am planning to install fine wire plugs during next annual and have my injectors recalibrated by gammi. Hopefully it will have a more complete burn and reduce TIT. Engine is around 270 since factory reman and I am trying to last as long as possible without any major service. Time delta on a 500nm flight and running it hard to get additional 10kt is 9 minutes.

I guess I am in the ball park. My TAS is 180+- at those altitudes on 17-18 GPH at full gross. Little better when light. I was just looking at some of the other Bravos and they state that at that altitude should be at 200kt + with TKS.
-
Interesting I may need to see if it needs to be re-rigged. It had a gear up landing by previous owner. I was out on Sunday and saw 144 IAS which resulted in 160kt+- TAS at 6.5 and 7K. Another thought I had after looking at other Bravos on Flight Aware ground speeds are not much different than mine. I always run my engine at 70% based on G3X and it could be that TAS is being displayed inaccurately. A bug that got stuck in the pitot tube preventing from getting proper IAS? Next time I am out I will try to do a four way course to get GS and average them out.

If we are going somewhere far it does make sense to go to 15-17k however my local flights 200 or under I stay at 6-8k. What do most Bravo drivers get for TAS under 10k?
-
Running 17.5 GPH 1590 TIT. I tried to run it LOP however TIT at that FF would be at 1650 and loss of speed would be almost 15KTS.

Hello Bravo pilots. I have owned my Bravo since September of 2021 and have done a factory engine along with a complete Garmin panel. However I am wondering what is the average speed that you get. I feel that I should be getting better than 160 TAS at 70% at 6500. I had taken it up to 17k and was getting 180 TAS with same power settings. I usually fly with 23/30 settings ROP. Could it be rigging or this all you get with a Bravo? When filing a flight plan at 160kt I always end up getting better speeds than forecasted.

I am at FCM with a Bravo and can take you for a flight.

Have about 100 hours on the system and only thing I had to address is pitch trim servo tention due to purposing when it got warm. Have been enjoying it very much.

Hello, I have a 2000 Bravo with TKS/FIKI and have been having issues with my gauge reading lower than actual. I had filled it up and it was only showing 1.5 gallons and next day it only shows .5 without any usage. Bad sensor? Not very comforting not knowing exactly how much you have if you have to fly through icing conditions.

Thanks. Every time I fly it like it more and more. I was surprised how heavy it is when moving it on the ground compared to G model though. Maybe time to shop for a new power tug as one I have struggles to get it moving especially when I have chains on.
-
Great to see similar project how long were you quoted to be in the shop? My installer stated 6 weeks for G3x, G5, GFC500 and GTX345 transponder. Plane will not go in to shop unless everything is on hand. Hopefully that will minimize my down time.

Prior owner wanted to fly this plane to Europe that is why all the stuff went in. He even put a Garmin GSR56 to be able to communicate and receive weather since ADSB is/was not available in Europe at that time. To us here in US it’s just a 10amu paperweight. He did run it quite hot as I see cylinders replaced in the logs. I have only started flying this plane in January and have not had any issues keeping the cylinders in low 300’s. Pics are from prior the sales add. Thanks for all the advice. I have yet to use TKS but hear it is good to cycle it at least once a month to keep fluid primed. Any comments on that?

Attached are pics in a different format. Everything works as it should. I found old pics of this panel and they had dual 430's and auto pilot in the center stack but it was moved when 750/650 was added. Auto pilot control panel will go on the left side under G3x where current TKS annunciator is as I did notice it is a little out of the way when things get busy in the air. I do like my audio panel in its spot I feel that it makes a clean look in the center stack. What do you find your oil level the be at before it gets blown out the bottom? My mechanic stated keep at least 8qt at all times.

Hello, New to me 2000 Bravo. What a fun airplane. Lots of new features to learn compared to my 1968 G Model. I had put a deposit on a g3x system and g500 autopilot that would be going in first week of April. I would be looking to sell king KFC225 Auto pilot with servos, Garmin 330ES transponder, JPI700, HSI, all steam gauges and original engine instruments. Everything is in good working order. Please DM if interested parts should be available early to mid-May. I will be posting an ad in classifieds once everything is out of the plane. Thank you. img (3).jfif img (4).jfif

Oil cooler is in the regular spot. I will mention that to my mechanic.

My factory gauge stays in the green but my JPI shows high temps. I tend to trust JPI more then factory gauge from 1968. Had I not had a engine monitor I probably would not have noticed any abnormalities.
-
Hi Hank, I did try that and my temps quickly jump up to 450 so I reduce power settings and climb rate to whatever I can get at 120 MPH. That seems to keep them at 430 or so. My main concern is cruise CHT's back two cylinders are running very hot. I have searched this forum and seems like everyone is running them at 360-380.
-
My JPI shows 14 to 15 GPH on the climb out 25/25. EGT's are in the 1250's. One odd thing that occurred coldest cylinder peaks first when I use lean assist feature on EDM700. Has anyone re-directed airflow somehow from cylinder number one?
-
Hello, Looking for some help as I am having issues with hot temps in level flight. My back two cylinders are hovering north of 400 in level flight. Doghouse baffling is sealed tight, timing is set as I got two new mags installed, cowl flaps are fixed and are open as much as they can be, spark plugs are new champion urem38. My mechanic said just run it and watch for temps on the climb out. Weird thing about my number one cylinder is running bellow 300 and my number four is at 405 in level flight. Oil temp is at 205-210 as well. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks I’ll give them a try.

I was thinking the same for installing Aspen or G5’s but want to go to a conventional 6-pack to have everything aligned. My autopilot is just a S-tec 20 so no altitude hold. To upgrade to a 30 it costs almost as much is a new Garmin GFC500. Is there a kit that one can buy to change configuration of gauges on left side?

Wow nice clean looking panel. Jim Peace All I want for my panel is for it to not look like an unfinished project. Definitely a decision not to take lightly.

Jim Peace Do you mind showing a picture of your completed panel? I am looking for Ideas.
