  1. i have a ITT LA11C2114 motor. Eaton made the back spring part inside the ITT LA11C2114 motor.
  2. basically Eaton made a bad batch of back springs and one of them was installed in my motor as part of an overhaul by LASAR in 2021. now the spring keeps the motor from unwinding and releasing the tension on the gear when it overruns. the only solution now is a new spring which is literally impossible to find or a whole new motor.
  3. hi! yes i saw 3 (including this one) on ebay but my mechanic has looked into them and advised me not to buy them. so frustrating! thanks for searching.
  4. I asked Aeromotors and they cant help and don’t have the parts. My last overhaul was March 2021 with LASAR. I did speak with Don Maxwell, he also does not have the parts and suggested asking LASAR. I am already waiting to hear from LASAR who said they currently do not have the parts but are trying to find them for me.
  5. Totally agree! When I reached out to Aeromotors someone named Ole replied with "Sorry I do not show that we have the landing gear motor on our Capabilities List." But, now that there us the new safety bulletin released on 3/3/23 about this issue (attached), one of these guys should capitalize on it and make some parts for Mooneys! I can't possibly be the only one. FAA SAIB M20 Landing Gear 2023-02.pdf
  6. Hi! Thank you, great idea. I am trying to reach Arte Lewis now... if you know him plz give him a nudge for me! Hah...
  7. Spoke to Don Maxwell and he said a Dukes 1496 or a Dukes 1057 motor would also work.

  9. After already having a complete overhaul, my landing gear motor is still having problems. The only answer now is a total replacement and it is not possible to find these new so I am searching for used ones in better condition than what I currently have. If anyone has these parts I could buy or knows someone who does or if you have any ideas/suggestions on where to look, please let me know! Thank you.
  10. Hello again everyone! My mechanics were finally able to recreate the issue, hooray! They cycled the landing gear three times and the problem reappeared all three times. They were able to take things apart and see with their own eyes the issue. Thankfully it has now been verified, I always feel a little crazy when I say there is something wrong while flying and they can't replicate the issue in the shop. lol. Here's what they explained to me, "We checked the landing gear rigging and it checks out ok. The problem is when the gear goes down to the full down position, then the gear motor starts unwinding to up slightly until it kicks back on. This slight movement is constantly happening until you pull the breaker. That’s why the unsafe light is going on and off that is the gear moving from full down to unsafe and then back. I believe you need a new or repaired landing gear motor, problem is that they a hard to find." So, now the hunt is on for a ITT LA11C2114 landing gear motor to replace the one I have entirely. Curtis and I have been searching for days now with no luck, so if any of you have one lying around or know someone who might, please let me know. I would appreciate any help in the hunt. Ps. For everyone concerned earlier, my plane has always been at Foothill in KCCB (as mentioned in the first message) which is a Mooney Service Center.
  11. my fuel pump was off before we heard the noise. I turn it off in my after landing checks after clearing the runway. the sound didn't start until after we were done taxing and starting the shutdown.
  12. agreed. I feel VERY familiar with my beacon and all it's grumpy noises and this sound was not that. I understand why people might suggest this without having heard the mysterious noise I am reporting, but it was so wildly different from any normal sound I am used to hearing that I literally wouldn't fly home.
  13. thank you! do you know anyone near KCCB who you would recommend / trust to deal with this kind of issue? if I fly it, pull the circuit breaker, and do not retract the gear ... how can I recreate the problem? do you think it will happen again if the motor is not receiving any power?
  14. The gear was removed and overhauled because the circuit breaker kept popping out on its own all the time and the gear wouldn't retract (was stuck in the down position). I have not experienced this problem again since the overhaul.
  15. Hello! I own a 1976 Mooney M20F named Loreto. This is my first post on a Mooneyspace forum, so please forgive me if I do it wrong. ◡̈ On 2/17 I heard a slow, deep, repetitive grinding noise coming from my plane after landing that I had never heard before. It was very loud and coming from within the airframe somewhere below and slightly behind the front left seat. The green GEAR DOWN indicator light on the panel was flickering a little. When I turned the master switch off, it stopped. When I turned the master switch back on, the sound and flickering returned. If I sat very still, I could feel my seat vibrating a little in sync with the sound. The DPE sitting next to me in the plane when this occurred suggested it may be an issue with my electric landing gear motor so I took the plane to the only maintenance facility on the airfield, Foothill Aircraft at Cable Airport. The mechanics at Foothill are hypothesizing... "a spring is snapping back and hitting a switch to tell the motor to continue to push the landing gear down even though it is already down and every time the spring extends the problem continues to repeat until the power is cut off." Foothill put the plane on jacks and has still not been able to recreate the problem. This makes sense because during our flight the noise only began after we were on the ground, not in the air. Worth mentioning is that my last flight was an IFR checkride where we shot three approaches in a row and extended and retracted the gear in the air twice with no issues before our final landing which was also totally fine and the landing gear came out and locked correctly. It was only after taxiing and sitting idle during shutdown that the noise began. The sound was so alarming that I do not feel safe to fly my plane again until the issue is properly identified and corrected. I am not a mechanic so my personal knowledge is limited when it comes to understanding this issue. I’m not even entirely sure it is related to the landing gear actuator or motor; or if either of these service documents (SI M20-112 or SB M20-190B) are even connected to this issue since I recently had it removed and shipped to LASAR for a complete overhaul (March 2021) and my actuator is a ITT LA11C2114 which is technically exempt from these service announcements. Have any of you heard this sound / had this problem before? Any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
