About Me

A bit about me:
Began flight training Feb 2017, Ventura Air @ KFRG in the warrior
Solo'd Apr 2017 30 hrs
May 2017 Ventura Air shut down (multiple maintenance related in-flight emergencies, one involving a close friend) 40 hrs
Dec 2017 re-located to KSBA (Above All Aviation) with a mission not to leave without a PPL
Jan 3 2018 got PPL ticket in glorious c150 N50150 from Joe Justice 72 hrs
Jan 4 2018 hightailed it over to CP Aviation at KSZP to do a weekend upset recovery course with Mark King, intro aerobatics 80 hrs

I bought into N8694N, a PA-32 260 partnership at KHPN and have had some fun adventures with that bird. My girlfriend Holly, dog Smoky, and I flew her for 2 months Dec 18-Jan19 around the country landing at bucket list strips. From New York, we flew west with stops in Memphis, OKC, Santa Fe, Truckee, Sedona, 1Z1 (grand canyon), Ogden, Vegas, LA, San Diego, and more. On the way back we spent a few days in Jackson Hole, then let the polar vortex carry us swiftly home. I've got about 150 in type now.

In April of this year, I bought N8973C, a heavily modified STOL PA22 named Charlie which had the third wheel mercifully put back in the right spot by legendary Oregon bush pilot Jim Hamilton and the crew at Steve's in Medford. Charlie is light (sub 1100), climbs fast with her 150hp o320, and makes my landings look good with 8.5 tires. Friend Evan, who owns nosewheel PA22 70A, came with me to pickup. We got our taildragger ratings together at Beagle over the course of 4 days, and then flew all over Oregon and northern california as a flight of two. Real highlight of my short flying career. Beautiful country up there. Charlie has now been all over the Mojave desert, Jackson, Nevada, and anywhere else the strips aren't made of asphalt. About 75 hrs in her now.

Our family splits time between NYC, Jackson Wyoming (primary), and Northern (SAC) and Southern (SNA) California.

What's next?

Commercial checkride mid-Feb, IFR in progress (written passed).
I'm on the prowl for a proper traveling plane to replace the c6.

Thanks for welcoming me into this community, and please feel free to reach out if you want to learn how a Cherokee 6-260 climbs at 10k (it doesn't) or how short you can land a pacer with pa-18 tailfeathers (very).
