  1. I was at the annual Lark Commander Owners' Group meeting when both of us heard the news. This is awful ... I sure know how it feels to try and nurse an orphan brand. Anyway, thought I would share this with the group. I am sure someone would know why this happened, how it can be fixed, and how to prevent a recurrence. Back to the meeting...I am hoping for no worse than 2d place at the Bingo tournament! This event always rocks! Cap O
  2. Maybe a little TMOI but I HAVE violated THIS one myself as I suspect many of you have!
  3. I found some helpful signs too! I think these are just overall pretty informative in everyday life, and have incorporated any of these into my personal SOPs. I agree, pretty much every manual should start with lots of pictures! That would make reading easier and funner. I like color pictures the best! nocrapnopee.html
  4. Thank you for the kind words! I know they are used today, and nothing against them, but Crew Outfitters doesn't hold a candle to the ol' Superior Uniform Cap Company. Don't know where you'd go today to get one. Old Bernard would take one look at someone coming through the door, and have him fully sized within two minutes. Service like that is uncommon nowadays, sadly.. As far as Iowa, still don't know anymore than what I posted above...what is it you want me to know?
  5. Don't worry, I don't want to upset anyone or make any waves. I am sure you will remain firmly entrenched at Most Ignored, if that is important to you, which it seems to be.
  6. Thank you sir, I appreciate the kind words. I think any flying community is well-served by mutual support and camaraderie, at least that is what I have enjoyed in my decades. Glad to find it here!
  7. Angst? Hmmm...not sure how that would apply here. Um, there is only ONE of me here, and I don't really talk much about myself. Pretty boring subject really. You seem to like to talk about yourself and your expertise though. You must really have a lot of expertise. I'm just a tired old pilot...
  8. I don't know anything about lithium, in water in Iowa or anywhere else. I didn't want to sound disagreeable, but I have no idea what that gentleman was talking about. I HAVE heard of dilithium crystals, however. They're used in Starfleet ships to create faster-than-light travel. Haven't flown one though ... yet! I am also not sure what a "hatter" is, but I might be one since I usually wear a smartly-adjusted airline hat as it completes the uniform. Does that qualify? I am not sure about the "spade" comment, but I am always up for a good card game. You guys use a lot of cool terms I am hoping I can pick up on. Still not sure for what you are apologizing, but it's OK, we can all have a bad day. Do you wear a hat too?
  9. I just talk into my hand mike. The technology does the rest. I am not much of a reader, prefer technical manuals, approach plates and watching gladiator movies.
  10. Thank you for the warm welcome sir! It’s refreshing to find a fellow traveler who is thoughtful, not angry, and who doesn’t want to tell me about his personal grooming, suggest l do unmentionables, chastise me for not being “senior” (though l am retired), work through some oversensitivity about Midwestern states (perhaps stemming from an inferiority complex), or try and get me to give up a keyboard. Which is what I wanted to clarify, You write very well, l was very pleased to read your post. But for me, well, l actually don’t like to write, never have. I use a hand mike. It’s one I had in one of my first jet jobs, a mechanic rebuilt it for me and I’ve got it connected so that what I say appears here. Progress, it’s amazing, isn’t it? These kids today...pretty soon you’ll be able to just ask for something and it’ll appear at your door! Imagine that!
  11. I like classes! Often they bring cookies and snacks and we get breaks every hour. l don’t understand your furry comment, your manscaping is your own affair, not something to be discussed in a public forum. I’m unclear on the keyboard comment. I use a hand mike.
  12. Actually, someone else mentioned Iowa to me. I don’t have anything say about Iowa one way or the other. Candidly it all looks the same from the flight levels, although back in my charter days we used to know all the great places to get a steak on a fuel stop in flyover country. As far as your comment, I’m not sure how that would work, although back in sixth grade...well, never mind. And again, I prefer to keep my hat on. It occurs to me, given your tone...years ago I had an FO who seemed to have some anger issues, was a large imposing gentleman too, if l recall correctly. The union suggested something called anger management...he ended up with a movie career l think (frankly he wasn’t much of a pilot, certainly not captain material). Maybe that would help you? Try reading for comprehension, they made me take a course and I found it worthwhile, when I do read.
  13. I DID make it by, seemed like many lovely folks. While l found beer and jokes, honestly, most of the humor I did not really get, but I do appreciate the effort. What l didn’t find was anyone who wanted to watch Spartacus with me...until l wandered back to the palatial Wing Derringer Owners Group complex. Those folks really know how to party! We even got through half of Ben Hur!
  14. Oh, there is so much, much more... I’m so sorry you’re bored. Maybe you can go play with the kids who share enjoyment of making fun of people’s names. “Senile” doesn’t rhyme with “Tennille.” But l will bite - you could have said, “Oveur, you’re a bad egg.” Or how about “Oveur, you should be OUT!” Maybe “Oveur, easy!” Perhaps suggest my hat is too tight, or follow up on previous, much wittier commenters’ (correct) observations about contaminated water, too much turbulence, or bad 70s music. You could have done any of those things, but instead, it’s name-calling and boredom. <sigh>
