Good morning. Thank you. Do you know if the other Oil Port to spray Oil in the Exhaust Valve Guide area could be added when doing a Top Overhaul for instance? Regards, FP

Good morning Guys, I understand the newer Acclaims Type S and Ultras have Continental TSIO-550-G5B which has a 2200 Hr TBO. Older Acclaims Type S have only 2000 Hr TBO. I heard that older engines were having some problems and in 2011 Continental and Mooney determined the oil breather tube could be blocked and issued a Service Bulletin to resolve issue. Then in 2015 Continental incorporated a cylinder modification to include another oil port that spray oil in the exhaust value guide area giving the engine more time between overhauls. Does anybody know if when TBO is due on an older Acclaim you could replace the Continental Engine for the newer 2200 Hr TBO one? Happy New Year!

Good evening, Has anyone upgraded to Synthetic Vision on their G1000 Mooney and could you share your experience and cost? Thank you, Fernando Paez

Thank you all for your response. I have filed the survey for the book Those Remarkable Mooneys... Hopefully they will print it again...

Wow! Thank you. Is the Book Those Remarkable Mooneys still available new?

Good morning Any suggestions on a good book about Mooney and it's history. Thank you, Fernando

Thank you for your response. Valuable information Regards, Fernando

Thank you for your response. https://www.diamondaircraft.com/en/private-pilots/safety/ Here is a link to what I read. Pretty amazing what they did on safety. This is a safety Video about the DA62 it is really worth watching. After watching you will see that the DA62 is a pretty amazing airplane, unfortunately I think it is ugly...haha. And Athony going back to your question I would love to have a Mooney Acclaim. Two things make me think twice. Knowing if there is going to be parts to take care of its maintenance know that the factory shut down and what happened to Mark. I am almost positive that I saw that airplane at the Mooney Plant when I visited it in late April of last year. Reading about what happened to it on the news impacted and made me feel me pretty bad. Thank you, Fernando

Thank you for your response. Did not know that Mooneys also have their fuel between the spars. That is good to know. I guess that in Marks case what did not help him was that the Acclaim flipped over during the accident. I agree with you that there is probably not a fuel tank or braided hose that can withstand that. Another question, is Mooneys Safety Record similar, lower or higher than other Retractable GA airplanes? Regards, Fernando

Good evening, I hope everyone is staying safe in these difficult times. After reading about Diamonds safety record and how they build their airplanes with tough flexible stainless steel braided high pressure fuel lines that move with deformed structures that have vastly superior strength and rupture resistance than the common aluminum fuel lines and how they build their fuel tanks with a twin wing spar design allowing the fuel to be placed in separate aluminum tanks located between the protective spars and reading about how Mooney Ultra Acclaim N576CM burned after it crashed in Arizona last year, I wonder if Mooneys are more prone to post accident fires? I would like to buy a Mooney. I have always liked them, but Iam concerned about how safe they are and if they are more vulnerable to post accident fires than other GA aircraft. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Fernando Paez

Good evening, I apologize for the wait. I was able to put this data into the WnBPro. It worked just as you said. Here is your Share Code. Pretty amazing numbers! Thank you!
-
Thank you very much for taking the time to pass this information along. I really appreciate it. Regards! Fernando Paez

Thank you! I appreciate it! Good Night!
-
Thank you again for the info on your O. Would you happen to have your Share Code for the WnBPro App? I understand this is for information purposes only and if you share it you can only visualize and not change parameters. Thank you

Good evening, Does anyone have a sample Empty Weight (lb), CG (in) and Moment (in-lb) for a Mooney Acclaim Ultra to input into the Foreflight Weight and Balance App? Thank you, Fernando Paez

Nooo, not at all. Thank you. And thank you Carusoam for the info on the Ovation. I really appreciate it. Hope you both have a nice weekend,

Mooney crash in Italy
Fernando Paez replied to kmyfm20s's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
That is what I thought as well. Don't know if he was referring to Carbon Fiber as Fiberglass and if Carbon Fiber has the same qualities as Fiberglass where it is brittle and it shatters upon impact producing splinters? -
Thank you Alex. I have my own legal copy to use. But the App allows you to share codes from different airplanes to learn and compare on how other airplanes would manage in different weight and balance scenarios.

Mooney crash in Italy
Fernando Paez replied to kmyfm20s's topic in Mooney Safety & Accident Discussion
Reading about post crash fires on this post made me remember an note I read about an Ex Mooney employee who in February 2019 raised a question about the new fiberglass shell which he apparently was told had not been tested for emergency landings, crashes. He expressed his worries because fiberglass is brittle and upon impact would shatter and produce splinters which was not the case with the previous metallic shell. He suggested that the fiberglass shell be covered with fire resistant Kevlar that could also help with splinters and test it in a real life situation. He was apparently ignored. What are your thoughts on this and do you think his suggestions about using fire resistant kevlar useful or necessary? Regards, Fernando Paez
