  1. Very complicated but I think I'm getting it. Why can't I have a dispatcher on my personal flights? Thank you all for your insights and resources.
  2. Haha thanks for the responses guys! It's an Apollo 55, enroute only. I've been filing as pictured. Its been working fine but every once in a while I'll be flying along just inside the clouds and be cleared for the RNAV at my home airport and I'll either have to fib and accept it knowing I'll be out of the clouds high enough (which is a big nono) or admit that I dont have RNP for an approach and it adds 20 minutes to my flight ad I get vectored a million miles around for the VOR approach from timbuktu. The alternative to this is having them hold my hand and vector me for everything in sight because they won't give me direct.. it's frustrating. So I just trying to get it right, Thanks guys!
  3. +1 I have the same radio. Works well.
  4. Good morning mooniacs, I've been googling and reading advisory circulars, reddit, wikipedia, just... anything I can to try to get my head around these ICAO equipment codes but I just cant figure mine out and I sick of either having to tell ATC I cant accept clearances they give me so here's hoping someone can help. My aircraft is humble. I have enroute GPS only. (Not approach certified) VOR/DME, Transponder with mode C no ADS-B Under Domestic rules I file /i but as i have no approach capability I keep having to turn down and correct controllers who give me approach clearances. Can someone please help? Thank you in advance.
  5. She flew today, thanks all!
  6. Probably. We had the jacks pinned, and barring an earthquake she wasn't going anywhere. She's so high because we were rolling around under her with a crawler and it was a nice height to work on the belly. California is ridiculous... I'll be the first to admit, but the cost was lower than it could have been, I helped a ton. 770 dollar fuel sender from Lasar, 1200 dollars in landing shock discs, a 550 dollar shock link, a couple new tires, a new trim torque tube it adds up pretty quick Oh and as for the prop... yeah I should have turned it to check the gear, but its like that because I walked into it and cut my face open on day 2 haha...
  7. Left inboard fuel level sending unit?
  8. We cleaned EVERYTHING... rebuilt the gear, looked in every panel, took mineral spirits to the greasy bits in the belly, it's clear to me this plane hasn't had a thorough annual in 10+ years. Joy of joys I get to eat the $7k annual... who wants to knowingly fly in a plane thats been half ass maintained? On the plus side the gear looks great, haha... 43503223_535293013608681_8900662569488875520_n.mp4
  9. As others have stated there was a design change. Thanks for weighing in
  10. Thanks!! Interesting they want poly tape on the joints. Extremely helpful.
  11. Thank you very much no the blocks have not been replaced. This is what they sent me. The ones on the plane are worn to the aluminum.
  12. Hi guys, in annual and underneath the belly we noticed the shaft that goes from the trim wheel back to the tail has a LOT of play in it. I ordered new bushings for where it is captured along the airframe (NMC557-16A) but it will still have a lot of play. Is this normal? And if not what fixes this? 20181003_125656.mp4 20181003_125620.mp4
  13. Appreciate that, I usually use those off field as I've heard bad things. Will probably have my IA check my work and just do this myself to be honest. Someone quoted me like 800 dollars to install it and the wire and frankly I'm sure its a pain but no way im paying that to essentially plug in a new antenna.
  14. Yep that's exactly what I'm looking at. I will definitely be replacing with RG400 be nice to have at least one good radio lol. I don't recall seeing those screws like that... maybe duct tape was covering them. I'll have another look.
  15. I believe I'm too much of a noob to know what you mean? How do I do that?
  16. Hey all! Yet another project, lol. I just bought a gently used COMANT CI-196 on fleabay and will be installing it in my trashed No. 1 COMM position. I recently had my interior out chasing down an electrical issue and was gonna remove the antenna at that time but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to do so. The rear antenna is easy and makes sense, but in front with the roof panel out I can only see the manifold that is used to channel air from the roof scoop to the front vents. Is there a way to remove this so I can get to the antenna bolts? Thanks in advance. The A/C is a Mooney 20F 1975 model, serial 22-1280 N6893V. I'll be replacing the cable at the same time as well.
  17. Thanks guys, ended up just rewiring the field wire and using contact cleaner on everything and she's good as new for now.
  18. Hi guys, I searched and while I can find many references to adjusting my voltage regulator, I haven't found any instructions to do so. Pictured is my voltage regulator, an Electrodelta vr415f out of my 74 F model. I see two pots for adjustment but am not sure which does which. Hoping someone more knowledgeable can fill me in.
  19. Thanks! Yeah its beating me down a bit. Just one thing after another. Having some intermittent charging issues now too. Smh... just.... grrrrr. Anyhow, I have a TKM in my trunk I got used super cheap but like... it doesn't broadcast basically at all and doesn't recieve barely at al, localizer has poor sensitivity as well. Avionics shop says it's fine but like... it doesn't work in the same damn slot as my good 170B so... yeah. I'll contact Alan thanks.
  20. Hi guys, I am in dire need of replacing at least one of my aging NAV/COM units... they are getting embarrassingly bad. I currently have two KX170b's in there and while the NAV portion of both works perfectly, pretty much everything else is a crapshoot. It's getting to the point where I don't even want to shoot IFR with them because it gets quiet and I have to wiggle the knobs and sure enough there's a controller repeatedly trying to get a hold of me. Anyway, sheesh... so the thing is... we just spent 3k on the engine. Just rewired the gear system, annual next month... we are bleeding money. I don't want to out more garbage in and need some ideas on what to do without breaking the bank. Please help.
  21. Well, I need basically all the wiring and brackets for the lightbulbs including the light bulbs for the gear warning annunciator system next to the gear lever. Pic related, the whole mess behind the lights up there except for the gear lever.
  22. Thank you. Actually it is the wiring retainer that is in the back of the bracket that holds the landing gear position light. We soldered in some new diodes, glued it back together in a way that can be easily removed for bulb replacement and put it all back together. Everything is working wonderfully now. My first experience on this forum has been an excellent one and I will definitely be sticking around. P.S. Check this bad boy out... knocked the dust off of it and pulled up the schematics old school style hahaha
  23. Oh I am angry haha I'm 90% sure it's metal dust from them dremeling something. It's everywhere in here. I blew and vacuumed it all out and I broke a freaking diode taking out the gear warning stuff so I had to snag some new ones lol... should be fixed today fingers crossed..
  24. Well I talked to Topgun, my local MSC and they said they will look at it if I can't get it fixed. If the gear swings with the warn system inop then I'll fly it down there. Tired of beating my head against this.
