  1. If you have the 540 already , definetly wait! The ifd100 will work just as advertied ... You will love it ! Randy
  2. Got the new avidyne Transponder through Chase and his trade-in program . Plugged it in and it worked? Thank you all for your help and expertise!
  3. Yes,...... I can just slid it in and away we go! Randy
  4. Last year on our Bahamas trip I got stuck in Fort Pierce florida for several days due to weather while all my IFR buddies took off and flew home. So that is the reason for the G5 and the IFD-440 ! Its time to get my instrument training out of the way ! Randy
  5. We live in Stockton California... I bought the velocity at the factory in Sebastian Florida. Since flying it home ( first stop in Austin Tx for fuel) we have traveled back to OSH and Niagra falls one year and were off to the Bahamas last year. IT is definitely is a comfortable cruising machine ! Yes the canard does flex in moderate turbulence just as it is designed to. There has never been a Velocity break up in flight. San Diego is 2 hours away, Seattle is 4 hours, and Cabo San Lucas is 4 hours south of the boarder non stop! Fast and efficient , just like your Mooneys! And yes, I am running into questions about my kt74. The King STC does not apply to experimental installations.... but I may just trade it in for the Avidyne transponder so there is absolutely no question as to its legality. It was featured in the October 2016 issue of EAA Sport aviation magazine : http://sportaviation.epubxp.com/i/726414-oct-2016/103?
  6. I have not gotten to fly it yet!!! I am sill wiring ! The G5, the IFD440 and the King KT74 are all new. So as soon as I get it all buttoned up and up in the air I will let you know! Randy
  7. This is My G5 install I got for Christmas! I have it wired to the Garmin SL-30 on HSI. The Avidyne is connected to the Dynon D100 via ARINC for primary HSI and autopilot. this is Velocity RG installation... there has been a lot of expertise on this forum that have really helped !
  8. Thank you Allen ! ! Man this all really sucks.... maybe I should just do the trade up program to the avidyne transponder and be done with it all ! Now I get it talk and find out it is still not communicating all the required fields for full compliance..... And then if I wait for 10.2 it May work ... but someone might try to tell me it is still not legal because it is not on Kings list of approved GPS sources. It Sounds like its time to throw in the towel, get the avidyne transponder and get my $500 rebate Randy
  9. That picture was from last week , befor I had it all wired up properly. It now reports GND properly. No I do not have King install manual for the Kt74 ... they don't give it to mere mortals. Can you expand on the inflight error that you expect? The position is showing up on the Kt74 when I use the function button to display it. If it's still not going to work I might as well just trade it in for the avidyne transponder!
  10. I got it to work today! I moved the data coming from the ifd440 from pin 3 of the secondary connector to pin 7 of the the primary connector and position data appeared on the Kt-74! For reference I set the ifd440 to send "ADSB(avi)" format and set the kt74 to receive the "Trig" protocol. still not sure if I am getting all the data required for adsb compliance?
  11. I have not found that to be the case..... my kt74 will not show position data from the ifd440. This is an experimental installation so the STC does not apply. But I cannot seem to get the two to talk! Any insights or expertise out there? It sure would be appreciated ! tnx
  12. Wait a minute, the ifd is advertised as a plug and play replacement for the garmin 430w ... and the 430w is and approved position source for the kt74..... and your telling me that the ifd I just purchased is not going to alk to my kt-74 ????
