  1. Yes except for the Henderson Airport (KHND) they filled my tanks to the brim then shoved the caps on and then it got warm. Fuel expanded and stained my wing over a year ago. Although it has faded a little there is still a blue stain on my paint. Worst pRt was they put the caps on crooked and it came a monsoon and I spent an hour draining water from my tanks. Was not fun! 2. My M20J 201 holds 32 gallons per side in her tanks. There are tabs in the tanks that at the bottom of the tabs, on level ground, are the 25 gallons of fuel remaining. My question is what is full 32 gallons? Is it to the top so that when you put the cap in it overflows? Is there a marking on the tab that shows full? How are you suppose to know you in fact have the full 32 gallons in each tank? Any expertise on this is greatly appreciated. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Winner winner chicken dinner!!!! Bravo!
  4. Yes I am all electric. No Vacuum system at all.
  5. It says "Norm"
  6. Yes it has a bridge in the middle.
  7. Does anybody else have on of these in their Mooney? Mine is an M20J 201 1978
  8. I have a separate Switch for the ELT.....So is this redundant?
  9. Newer Mooney Owner and Just got asked a question by my Flight Instructor on what the "EBB Disc" Switch is for? Its not in my POH...I have no idea what is does. Any help would be much appreciated. See attached picture. Thanks JCD
  10. I am in Arizona and in the market for a walk behind tug that will work with a M20J 201 Please contact me at: justin.dyster@gmail.com
  11. What should I be looking for on new cam and lifters to help prevent this? Are ther newer materials or surface finishes I should be aware of?
  12. No metal in oil filter and oil analysis all looked good.
  13. Byron is 100% spot on. I am in a similar scenario right now bought a M20 J 201 had not been flow a lot over the last 3 years and after an $3000 in misc repair and maintenance followed by $8,000 annual I am now having to do a engine overhaul. I have flown the plane 88 hours! My advise buy a plane that has been flown a lot. Planes that are being used regularly are a safer bet. Planes that sit are a money pit! check out those lifters and Cam!
  14. I am currently facing an engine overhaul on my '78 M20J 201. I have had the plane a year and put 100 hours on it and started fouling plugs. Bore scoped the cylinder in question and there was rust. I bought the plane from an older gentleman that lost his medical. I guess my pre-buy inspection was not to good. Took it to a shop to do a top overhaul and when the got it tore down......I got "that" phone call. Lifters and cam are gone. Now I am faced with full overhaul. I was thinking about going to the A3B6 but the additional airframe mod cost has me scared. I just don't know if it's worth it. Do the A3B6D's have a problem chewing up lifters? ( I am guessing an oiling problem?) Is it worth the extra expense to switch to this engine type?
  15. Thanks for spreading the knowledge here. I went to the advanced pilot link and went through the Setting your mixture brief. Wow! I just learned a lot!!! I am going to try this. This is not what I was taught to do but it make perfect sense. I live in Phoenix High DA is a way of life. Setting the mixture this way should help a lot in my take off and climb performance. Thanks again!!!
  16. Jim I am an aerospace engineer for 20+years but only a 150 hour pilot. Got my license 11 months ago. So I am pretty conservative when it comes to deviating from the POH on a 1500 hour, 21 year old engine. I would like to get a few more years out of her before I have to overhaul it. I have tried leaning it out but it starts running rough at the setting in the picture at 9.4 GPH at 5500 ft MSL. I chicken out and go back to POH settings. Even with all that said, it still doesn't explain the EGT/CHT difference on one cylinder
  17. Wondering what suggestions I can get on this. A little back ground first. '78 M20J 201 IO-360 ~1500 hours SMHO fly ROP per POH cylinder #3 plug fowled out a week ago (see picture) all new plugs and now I am seeing Cylinder 3 EGT highest and CHT lowest (see pictures) in all phases of flight. Oil consumption, maybe a quart every 6-8 hours and all oil analysis come back with excellent results. I am thinking bad injector and going to Gami. Thoughts and comments much appreciated.
  18. What did you get for your 830? What sensors did you sell with it?
  19. If its the same foot print that would be awesome!
  20. Do you mind me asking what you paid for it plus installation?
  21. Is this JPI EDM certified as a "PRIMARY" instrument to replace the existing Mooney Analog Instruments? If so, do you have exact model number?
  22. Well the Mechanic and I both gave up with a New Fuel Pressure gauge, New transducer and verified the wiring between both of them. The fuel pressure reads 5 PSI high all the time now. Even where there is no pressure on the system. $1800 later and now I know it shows 5 PSI High. Time to get rid of the last of my 1978 instrument panel. I have a JPI 830 (Secondary flight instrument) what is recommended to replace the Fuel Level in each tank, Fuel Pressure, Oil pressure, Oil Temperature, and Cylinder Temperature without totally wrecking my instrument panel? All ideas appreciated.
  23. Absolutely would do this. How much did you pay for the gauge and install?
  24. Well...My Saga continues....The new transducer had no effect so we are back to the faulty 1978 Fuel Pressure Gauge. Does anyone know where you can buy a new or overhauled gauge for a '78 Mooney M20J 201? See picture attached
  25. You said your sender was $80. My Mechanic is quoting $300. Do you know where they got yours? How long ago did you have this done? Any info you can provide is greatly appreciated.
