  1. Not quite sure what you're asking. The ACU is p/n 910-00004-001 with mod E. It worked fine with my S-TEC 55x and both Garmin 530W and GTN 750.
  2. You gotta get your priorities straight! You can build a house anytime, but how long is this sweet deal going to be around?
  3. Marauder - You are correct. Rick and I have become great friends and remain in touch even though he has gone over to the dark side and now flies a Twin Comanche. He even installed an Aspen 2000 in it. The Aspen 2500 is immaculate, Hard to believe it hasn't been snatched up yet. Someone is going to get a heck of a deal.
  4. Great question. Aspen is probably the best "bang for the buck" in terms of number of features you can fit in the smallest area for the least amount of money. The three panel system allows you to have an infinite number of display configurations depending on your phase of flight (enroute, approach, etc.) I bought the plane with an Aspen system installed. I now have a total Garmin panel that just worked out for me better to have a G500. But the Aspen is a sweet system. It includes the pre-wired harness which will save you a lot of installation expense.
  5. Selling an Aspen Evolution 1000 Pro PFD removed from a Mooney. It has Synthetic Vision and Angle of Attack. This unit lists for $15,985 with the upgrades. Asking $9,000. It is green tagged by Freedom Avionics (affiliated with Mooney Service Center) in Lynchburg, VA, and ready to go!
  6. Because I want to and I can. AoA is a total game changer--especially in a Mooney. You nail the approach speed and landings at every weight and density altitude. No more floating. Having multiple possibilities for the AoA presentation gives unlimited flexibility as to what is displayed on which screen. Very helpful in approach mode with charts, terrain, and routing all able to be displayed in any number of configurations. You decide. SVT is kind of cool. Again, having the option of displaying it where you want during different phases of flight is nice.
  7. Selling an Aspen Evolution 2500 system (3 panels) with Synthetic Vision and Angle of Attack options in each unit. Functioning perfectly when removed from aircraft. Lists for $32,655 new with named options. Sacrificing for $18,000. Includes RSMs, ACU, pre-wired triple unit harness. State-of-the-art Glass Panel technology! Looks great in a Mooney!
  8. Don't have a picture handy, but the old style door has a piano hinge that is visible from the outside top of the cowling. The door pivots at this hinge point. The newer style like yours has an "arm" that articulates the door up off the cowling. You'll notice that one of the "fingers" of your hinge is missing. This is where the spring would have been. Here is a link to where you can get a replacement spring: http://www.cleavelandtool.com/Spring-for-Oil-Door-Hinge/productinfo/4640-1/#.VtJr-o-cG70
  9. On the early M20J models the oil access door in the cowling is really awkward to open. Your finger usually gets caught in the hole as you push the button down and then try to lift the door. Later Mooneys have a spring assist type hinge that allows the door to open effortlessly. Modifying an older style cowling with the improved hinge would seem like an easy job , but to make it look nice there is a lot of work involved. Has anyone come up with anything less involved that works well?
  10. I've seen the Aspen AoA in action, and it is a game changer for Mooneys! They do require separate licenses on all units, but the 2nd and 3rd are much less than the initial unit. It's nice to have it on at least one MFD since the display is much larger than on the PFD. Has anyone else had any experience with the Garmin or Alpha AoA in a Mooney?
