  1. Sold! Sold: 1982 Mooney M20J 201 N1157Z This 201 was based in Texas and hangared for most of its life. I have owned this airplane for 7 years and moved it with me from Texas to New York in 2016, where I had it tied down outside at HPN for a year before I moved it back into a hangar. It is currently based in a hangar at 44N Sky Acres, LaGrangeville, NY. 57Z has been a great traveling airplane for me and my small family. During my ownership I have flown this airplane between Dallas and Santa Monica, and Dallas and New York many times. My mission has changed now, our trips not quite as epic, so it is time to find another owner for 57Z. 2. N95 enabled oxygen masks mandatory! Appreciate your forwarding to 201er. -Glen
  3. Hi NJMP - I just sent my info to 201er and hope to get on board. Are you guys planning any post-pandemic fly outs?
  4. Hi Keatre - Garmin has updated their docs. You can now wire the 430W to display traffic and weather with dual G5’s. And it works great!
  5. I started a thread on this topic here. We’re waiting for Garmin to update their paperwork....
  6. I am wondering how much a field approval would cost? Keep in mind that it’s just the traffic piece on the 430 we’re talking about. Weather shows up, and all of the navigation integration works (really well). If Garmin issues updates to their paperwork in Q1, the wait isn’t that bad.
  7. Toto - yes. You cannot also display traffic on the 430W because the G5 currently needs both ARINC 429 ports on the 430W. Note: The latest software update on the 430W enables a G5 protocol on only one 429 port, freeing up the other port for the Traffic interface from the GTX345. However, the STC has not yet been approved to support this configuration. UPDATE: The GFC500 has built-in roll steer, so you might not need both ports. Check the installation guide or with your shop.
  8. ForeFlight is pretty good too!
  9. Here’s the response I received from Garmin: “Unfortunately this is correct as the current G5 to GNS 430W interface requires both of the 429 ports to be used. We do have a software update for the GNS units that will allow one port setting however this has not been STC approved as of yet and hopefully will be approved in early 2019 timeframe barring any problems with the cert and scheduling.”
  10. Which they did. And we wait.....
  11. Then are we waiting for Garmin to issue a new SB rather than an update to the STC? Or are you saying SB 1762 Rev A already covers this and nothing more should be forthcoming from Garmin. From SB 1762 Rev A: "Notification of revision to Garmin's STC(s) will be provided under a separate service bulletin."
  12. Oh, we have problems.... I don't like that "solution" either! Somebody here PMed the name and email address of a Garmin rep shortly after I posted. I sent him an email but haven't heard back yet.
  13. Well, that is interesting. The current STC does require both of the arinc 429 inputs on the 430W for the G5. The current STC does not recognize the software update on the 430W, so it doesn’t leave a port for the GTX 345. And this SB clearly states that it does not provide airworthiness approval for certified aircraft. Is your shop going for a field approval?
  14. Thanks, I just asked and they are aware. The shop referred me to the "Certification Authorization" section of SB 1762 Rev A, which says, "TSO Authorization does not provide installation airworthiness approval. Separate installation airworthiness approval is required for type certified aircraft. Notification of of revision to Garmin's STC(s) will be provided under a separate service bulletin." My shop will wire it correctly once the STC is updated.
  15. Yes, I do have that covered. I'm really looking for the full integration as promised by Garmin.
