  1. I had same problem on '08 Ovation. The momentary switch failed....dead battery. It's hard wired to battery for the reason you said, so it'll work with master off. Only way to kill light is to remove bulb, and replace switch. I leave bulb out now. Cost me a new battery, but changed both, so double whammie. LED headlights are 12 bucks at Home Depot
  2. I haven't got to it yet. Flew this weekend. It's still bouncing around. I'll give a report as soon as I clean n grease the connections
  3. Thanks Nate, I just figured out the photo thing on the main page and saw your pics. Imma work on them again. I noticed you are N490PS, I'm three behind you at N493PS.
  4. Just noticed the pics. Thanks. I've been through these plugs, which helped temporarily, but I'm gonna do it again. The problem's gotta be in there!
  5. Any simple recs on LOP settings, say at 5000',6000', and 10,000/11,000'?
  6. Gotcha. I just read other posts on those holes. My #5 is running in 390s only on climb. Once level it gets down below 360. I was just a bit concerned for damage on the climbs, but if that is normal, I can live with that. But, I'm low time enough to not have gone through a rebuild on a big engine like the 550.
  7. I don't know which one is the bayonet connection, but I'm sure it's been cleaned. BTY, my avionics guy said never spray corrosion X on connections. It works its way into the circuit boards and eats them up. A garmin no-no. Was told by Premier that hardwiring a separate wire to the MFD, outside the harness, should fix the problem. That means pulling out the panel. I haven't found a technician with the balls to tackle that yet. I'm not sure if I have em,
  8. Yup. Pouring all the coals on it. Airport elevation is 8'. Feet that is. What's a pixie hole?
  9. What are u getting on CHT on climb?
  10. Ever since I got my modern glass Mooney 2 years ago, I've had erratic problems with my manifold pressure indicator on the MFD. Several avionics guys have got it working again(a different diagnosis every time), but after a while I start getting erroneous readings again. It reads a pressure lower than actual, erratic, up and down. The problem has always been a connection somewhere. Usually the large wire harness that goes through the firewall. Take em apart, clean em then back together again and it works fine for a few hours. There is not a lot of Mooney G1000 avionics repair experience in my area. Obviously, it's a loose connection, but cannot nail it down.
  11. Also, RPM max out at 2650. Should she get the whole 2700 pr is that normal?
  12. 455 since new
  13. Haven't taken cowling off since last oil change 20 hrs ago. They were fine then. I'm not having any significant change in CHTs, just paying more attention to them. The #5 head stays 20 degrees hotter on climb then comes down when level. The others say well below 380. But that makes sense, there is a baffle at the inlet I can see. I'll check it out tomorrow. Thanks
  14. I live in south Louisiana where it's pretty warm. Been paying more attention to CHT on climb trying to keep it below 380. The POH rec climb at 125 knots is too slow to keep it down. Even 135 -145 seems to creep up the temps over 390. This is the number 5 head that's right behind the alternator. Today the surface temp was 78 degrees and at 5000" oat was 65. Fuel flow is 26-27 gph. WOT at 2650. Any ideas? Fuel flow to low. RPM settings? BTY she's an Ovation 3
  15. Thanks for the insights, guys. I get medical oxygen for free and when I went to fill up a small skyox tank, I was a bit shocked for $80. But a quick cash pay was Only $40! That tank only lasted my son and I for 3 hours. I found some medical regulators called" easy pulse 5" that last way longer with the same size tank. Only problem is that it only has one output. Need one tank for each person. Prolly still lot cheaper and easier, when u can only bring what u need for a trip.
  16. I have an M20R ovation 3. Been using portable O2 a lot lately. Has anyone added O2 system to the plane? How big of a hassle is it and cost?
