  1. I have Fawn on the shelf in both the Fixed Strap and Inertial Reel Styles.
  2. Hi Steve - No, unfortunately it wouldn't. The whole thing would need to be replaced. The push button style is a whole different deal. Can't mix and match. MOONEY REPLACEMENTS/UPGRADES - this link will take you right to our webpage; New Shoulder Harness (with reel if installing Inertial Reel Style), Lap Belt and all new assemblies with push button releases; $289.00 per seat for Fixed Strap Style $389.00 per seat for Inertial Reel Style. I try to keep Black, Gray and Fawn on the shelf ready to go. Mooney M20A thru M20G Models (and some early J models) will need the Minor Change Kit which is $35.00 and has enough hardware for 2 front seats, so only 1 is required. Rear Seat Lap Belts are $85.00 per seat (Black, Gray and Fawn stock colors). We can order 3 point Diagonal Fixed Straps for the rears if you have existing attachment points back there. These are $289.00 per seat. We do not stock these, so 3 week lead to shipment is required.
  3. Ned - Brian is correct. The push button belts are an entirely different animal than what you have. Besides being a completely seperate drawing (authorization), the connector end (tongue) is completely different, and wouldn't connect with the push button mechanism. You would need an entirely new set.
  4. Hi Ned - I will check into it - It's not something that's been requested, so I don't know the answer. It would be nice to be able to change out just that section rather than the whole belt. Let me see what our options are and get back to you asap!
  5. Hi! I saw something fly by (pun intended!) about the push button releases as on option for our belts. All of our Mooney Belts - fronts and rears - are stocked in the push button style. We moved to that as soon as they were available to avoid the exact situation with the j-bar and the unintentional release of the traditional tear drop style. I can order the tear drops if someone really wants them (don't have a j-bar, like the original look...) - but as far as day to day from inventory shipments they are all push button style!
  6. Hey Jim - Thank you. I don't have all the answers, but I'm not afraid to admit it and ask someone who knows! I was pretty sure I knew the answer to your question, but I checked with Don and he confirmed my thoughts; The front Mooney shoulder belts attach to the tube structure. On the older aircraft - there is not enough tube structure to support a rear shoulder belt attachment. On the later Mooney's they added another horizontal tube above each passenger window to support the shoulder belts load. The only way around this would be to weld in the additional tube - not really very practical. The other option is to obtain a fuselage, try to attach the rear shoulder belt to the skin structure at which time a pull test would need to be performed to determine if it would hold. When we did the Beech and Piper tests I believe we had to pass 9G's without any structural / equipment failings to be considered "approved". This was with the FAA present at the testing. Yes, a shoulder harness would increase the safety of the rear seat passengers. Long answer short; We haven't found a good way to do it!
  7. Not usually unless they are already back there,or were intended to be there (hard points). We haven't found enough structure to securely attach them.
  8. A suggestion on the Inertial Reel Covers popping off; In talking with Don about it this morning, he said he ran into that once and what he did was "washer it out". What was happening in the situation he ran into was that the royalite surround was preventing the cover from securely snapping into place. The space was too tight. He added a couple washers so that the reel was sitting slightly above the surround and the problem was resolved. He also said that the cover could easily be trimmed using a dremmel tool if the opening is not big enough. I am working with AmSafe to see if there is a fix there.
  9. Hey Dave - I'll take your thoughts to AmSafe and see if they have any thoughts on the cover.
  10. We haven't had anyone call to tell us it was in the way. I did see the posts about the plastic cover coming off.... I'll mention it to AmSafe and see if they have any suggestions on that.
  11. I mentioned your suggestion to Don and he thought it was a good idea... he'll think on how to make that happen!
  12. 2012 Prices $349.00 for Inertial Reel (per seat) $249.00 for Fixed Strap (per seat) 2013 Prices $369.00 for Inertial Reel (per seat) $249.00 for Fixed Strap (per seat) Rears stayed the same at $80 per seat
  13. This is Paula from Alpha Aviation. It really is a pretty straight forward installation. As noted above, from time to time the pilots side can be a little tougher, but not impossible in 99.9% of instances! INSTALLATION OVERVIEW The shoulder strap upper attachment points are created adding MS27405-6 clamps to the fuselage tubing structure adjacent to and aft of each pilots outboard shoulder. The design of the shoulder strap upper attachment is similar to that provided by Mooney on M20J aircraft; Serial numbers 24-001 thru 0083 and 24-0085 thru 0629. The installation is accomplished through the installation of the attachment hardware to the existing 4130-chrommolly-fuselage frame, without modification. This installation is considered by the FAA to be a MINOR CHANGE and requires no FAA approval. See FAA – Policy Statement ACE –00-23.561-01; Dated September 19, 2000. If you'd like a copy of this, please email me at paula@alphaaviation.com and I'll shoot one over for you. Our MOONEY REPLACEMENT/UPGRADE page includes photos, installation overviews, etc.
