steeplev Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 I am very close to completing the purchase of my first Mooney - I'm pretty stoked about it! At any rate here is my question. The plane I'm looking at is using a David Clark portable intercom system. Was it standard to 1977 Mooneys to come with a bulit-in intercom and the associated jacks wired into all four seat positions? steeplev Posted September 15, 2012 Author Report Posted September 15, 2012 Sorry, I had meant to add that the plane is a 1977 M20J. Quote
danb35 Posted September 15, 2012 Report Posted September 15, 2012 The built-in audio panel with intercom is, I think, a more recent thing. I would expect one to be in pretty much any Mooney, but that's because I'd expect it to have been retrofit at some point. It can definitely be added later, but it's a fair bit of labor to do so. steeplev Posted September 16, 2012 Author Report Posted September 16, 2012 Thanks for the feedback. I'll consider whether I stick with the portable unit in the plane or go ahead and install a G340 or a PS Engineering 8000BT. I currently have the Garmin 340 unit in my Cherokee. I guess that I don't like the idea of the clutter in the cockpit associated with the portable unit. Any comments on the G340 vs. the PS Engineering unit? I'll post a pic or two once I complete the deal later this month. My mission takes me 600 nm cross country 2x per month so I'm very excited to move up to the 201 from my Cherokee. Quote
Ned Gravel Posted September 16, 2012 Report Posted September 16, 2012 PS unit will have better shielding from radio RF. Quote
