It takes a bit for the oil in the prop to warm up.   The prop is a dead-end and oil doesn't circulate through it.   It "breathes" as it cycles pitch, pushing old oil out and letting the new stuff in, which is one reason to cycle it during run-up.    If mine cycles slowly during run-up, I'll cycle it once or twice more until it responds more rapidly, which means warm oil has made it into the prop.
