z4t143 Posted August 9, 2014 Report Posted August 9, 2014 Does anyone have a link to replacement parts for the fuel caps on a '64 "E" model? The relase mechanism is getting a little "tired" and is not as stiff as I'd like it to be. The shop replaced the O-Rings at annual and fiddled with the washers, but the external latch mechanism could use some adjustment or replacement. Any suggestions appreciated. DrBill Posted August 9, 2014 Report Posted August 9, 2014 Steve at Hickory NC has done extensive research and work on these caps.. Check out his past posts for some of the data. I believe he has re-surfaced some of the wear points to make them. Bill
Skybrd Posted August 9, 2014 Report Posted August 9, 2014 Keith at Bakersfield Aviation has fixed mine a few years ago. He did some welding and grinding to fix the latching mechanism that wears down. I don't have their phone number but you should be able to google Bakersfield Aviation. Ask for Keith. Good luck. BTW, Bakersfield Aviation is located in Bakersfield, Ca on the airport KBFL.
HRM Posted August 10, 2014 Report Posted August 10, 2014 The caps are Shaw Aero 431-9's and are used on a number of different AC. Just Google "Shaw 431-9" for all sorts of info. Also, as was suggested, there are a number of other threads here on this forum that address repair issues on them.
