Garwin Engine Instrument Cluster Lighting
65C_flier posted a topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
Hi all, Is there supposed to be in-built lighting for the gauges in the standard Garwin 6-pack engine instrument cluster on a 65C? My instrument lights have been modified with LED bezels by a previous owner, but the engine instruments have no lighting and the overhead flood lights have been removed.- 4 replies

Our not-for-profit Mooney flying club is upgrading our 1967 M20F to a CGR-30P total instrument. As such we are selling the below items to help off-set some of the upgrade cost. Each item comes with a photocopy of the logbook entry that provides all of the below information and states that the equipment was functional upon removal. FSDO says that's all you need to reinstall in a certified aircraft. Photos and prices (or best offer) are listed on our website at http://www.monticellofc.org/aircraft/For_Sale.html . We are waiting until the winter to add a new fuel level gauge which will allow us to sell all of the cluster gauges. The ones at the bottom are still available. For folks having oil temp probe problems, I highly recommend opening up the Amphenol connector on top of the probe, looking for loose wires, and re-soldering them. That happened to our old one, thus why the connector was newer than the probe. With all that engine vibration, that is the most likely culprit for no or intermittent oil temps. Another trick is to put wrist locks in the lines about an inch from the probe. That way you can open up the circuit, test continuity, and reconnect them.

Anyone know what the make and model number of this prop governor? Fuel pump is in the way sorry best pic I have. (it's leaking oil) It says Garwin on it and numbers stamped on the side 5320. I searched the logs and there's nothing in there for the prop governor ever being worked on or replaced. It's in a Mooney 1968 M20C Lycoming engine O-360-A1D with a 3 blade Harzell prop. I would like to replace it with a PCU 5000 hopefully a drop in replacement. I would rather replace it with a new one since I have the mags, vacuum pump, battery box, lower cowling and hoses out of the way.

So the shop that did a bench test on my gauge cluster said that the left fuel gauge is totally dead and nobody can do a repair on it. The symptom is that if the power is on, I've read through several of the previous threads on this and there is a lot of rumor and hearsay about who is willing to do repairs; has anyone had one repaired recently? Does anyone have a working one for sale?
