  1. Im wondering what other M20 owners think regarding the noise level in the cockpit. Prior to buying my Mooney M20E, I mostly flew 172s, 182s, PA-28s etc. I find the noise level in my M20 approaching unbearable after 4 hours or so. I've been getting some dual from a 10,000+ hr plus CFI that actually though his Bose ANR was broken due to the noise on climb out. The airplene just completed annual so there's nothing mechanically wrong. Do most of you guys fly with ANR headsets? If so, how much do they help. As much as I hate to spend the money, I think I'm going to have to get a Bose or Lightspeed...
  2. Wow, AmigOne, that's a really clean panel you have... I wound up purchasing the RAM mount with the suction cup. First I took the suction cup off and used an existing screw on the right side pillar... seemed a but flimsy so I put the suction cup back on... it's mounted vertically so I can see the geo-referenced approach plates better. Tomorrow is wash and wax day... I'll be taking plenty of pictures and uploading them soon.
  3. Thanks. That's kinda what I was thinking.
  4. The person I bought my M20 from said that he flys cross countries with the cowl flaps open for better cooling. What do other M20 owners think? What kind of speed I provement can you expect with them closed?
  5. So what actually causes the green light to illuminate when extending manual gear? Is the switch / senson located in the actual gear or on the panel where the handle restracts into?
  6. Is the 7 better or worse than the modern replacement? I'd like to convert mine back to the 7's. Like the look better.
  7. I took delivery of my new Mooney M20E today!!! The first thing I noticed is I dont know what to put anything. I have manual grear so the room between the seats is full, and there's no "pouch" on the co-pilots side. I'm used to 172's where you have a storage pouch on each side and a large center console. So where do you guys store charts, plates, pens, flashlights, etc? I have the one pilot side pouch that holds a checklist, and maybe a few pens.... that's it. Any aftermarket storage ideas? Thoughts? I suppose I could use the seat back pockets but would prefer something a bit easier. What about "mounting" a flashlight, etc? Any tips? Thanks!
  8. Quote: 231flyer Our Mooneys come with a great pre-mounted attach plate for the iPad. Simply remove the screw holding the lower hand strap on the co-pilot A pillar and attach a Ram or other base. The mount is very sturdy and will keep your iPad in your normal scan without obscuring any of the engine instruments/CBs etc.

  10. Greetings! This is my first post and I'm almost a Mooney owner. Just waiting for delivery of a 64 M20E I'm wondering.... for those of you that have iPads with Foreflight. Where in an older Mooney do you have them mounted? Pros / Cons?
