  1. Will be putting this into the panel this summer. It looks like a awesome little unit. Will be putting it where the tach currently is.
  2. No I didn't. I know if I was asking 12K and someone offered me basically nothing I would be offended. Unfortunately it will probably never fly again. The current owner should just part it out himself.
  3. I elected not to go view the plane as for it to really make any sense the seller would just have to give it to me. I am lucky that my friend allows me to fly his 20E whenever I want it. I hope in a few years to find a 201 with all the stuff I want.
  4. I currently am flying a 65 M20E so this is more of a project if the price was right. But I don't think it will be. The engine is "low time" but if it hasn't been run in a few years then it will most likely have to be gone right through. I was going to start at 5K but even that may be too much. I doubt I would be able to fly it back to my home field so I would have to factor in trucking it back. I think I am just going to save up a bit more and move into a 201. There is lots of nice ones out there with all the goodies. When I do find one I will make sure that it hasn't been a hanger queen.
  5. I may go look at this aircraft next weekend.https://www.barnstormers.com/classified_887905_1966+Mooney+M20E.html It is located north of Edmonton and I am in Red Deer. It is just a short 50 minute flight in the mooney! I have no intentions of paying him what he is asking. After reading about a member here with the corrosion in his M20C I will be sure to really check it out. What I am really interested in is the engine but with sitting for so many years it may be worthless too. It is sad to see aircraft like this just sitting and basically rotting away.
  6. Does anyone by chance have a copy of the weight and balance charts that they could email to me? I went through all of my documents and it is not in my POH. Please drop me a PM and I will supply you with my email. Thanks! If anyone requires a copy of the POH in PDF format I can gladly send it. I would upload it for all but I don't have access to the download section. Tyler
  7. The plane runs great at full throttle. I would agree that the idle probably just needs to be set up. But the increase in RPM when leaning on the ground, this is normal?
  8. First time poster.....longtime lurker. My question is about mixture. The aircraft I fly is based at a airport with a elevation of 3000'. I just purchased some block time from a friend that owns the plane. The model is a M20E with the IO-360. I have lots of right time seat but now moving into the left seat. As per insurance requirements, I am doing some dual time with a instructor. As this is the first time I have really had control of all of the aircraft systems I have a question about the mixture settings. On the ground I lean aggressively as the airport is 3000' With the engine full rich and the throttle pulled all the way back, the engine will stop. During the first flight out with the instructor, I come in for a landing. On the approach, full rich, throttle back. On touchdown, the engine quits. Get the airplane back running,, take off. Before takeoff though, I set the throttle at 1000 RPM and start to lean. The RPM goes up about 400 RPM just leaning on the ground. But if you give it some more power it does start to cough. My flight instructor that I have hired will not fly with me until I get the airplane fixed as he thinks there is something seriously wrong. He has spoken with mechanics who say there is something wrong with the carb. Didn't know the M20E had a carb! The plane just came out of annual with no problems. My friend and owner of the mooney has spoken with other pilots who say this is normal as the plane is set-up for sea level. At this point I don't know what to do. The instructor is the only independent instructor around. If there is something wrong with the plane, we would get it fixed. But if this is normal how do I tell this guy. I guess we can set it up for 3000' then switch it back once my flight training is finished.
