Greetings from Sunny Arizona,
Just thought I would jump in here after reading all the different posts on Pneumatic Gyro Instrument Systems,,, (Most are on target.....some are just "hear-say" unfortunately being passed on as Gospel)
After 17 years as Service Manager with Airborne Mfg (for all you young guys out there with GPS and electronic panels, that's the original air pump people that helped design all the GA pneumatic gyro systems), I accumulated a lot of info that might be helpful to the fellows flying the older Mooney Aircraft.
Lets face it, the aircraft pneumatic gyro system on aircraft is a dying breed....but based on phone calls I still get every week, a lot of GA aircraft out there still use old "air power".
If anyone needs info on a problem they're having with their system or suggestions on how we might have fixed a similiar problem in the past,,,,give me a shout,,,,it's free,,,and available just sitting in files cabinets here at my office.
