For what its worth. The step is chromed plated and should slide up and down without any lubrication. When I purchased my 66E two years ago I cleaned the shaft totally,and made sure the cables inside were not kinked. Works like a charm.

I recently updated my instrument panels. However, now my fuel gages are very irratic and dance and play games all over the dials. Have sprayed WD-40 and electrical contact cleaner on circular connectors on rear of engine instrument cluster, but with no results. Any suggestions on a remedy or can the fuel gages be purchased? I fly basically by the time flown with a reserve, so the gages are really a backup. THANKS!

Has anyone out there in Mooneyland installed Fiberlite Instrumant Lighting in their panels? It is marketed by Aircraft Spruce and is basically a fiber optic system to the rings around each instrument mounted between the instrument and the panel. I am installing a new panel and do not know if these are better or worse than Nulights.

Need to replace PTT switch on the yoke of my M20E. Cannot find any on the internet that fit. It is a 2 post switch that is 1/2 inch barrel in size. Any suggestions?

I recently purchased a 1966 M20E and would like to install the iFly 700 GPS on the panel if possible. Has anyone done this yet?
