  4. G’day From Down under Can anyone tell me what the correct engine alignment for a 1965 E model is? I had a guy tell me a few days ago that my engine is hanging low and requires shimming at the engine mounts to realign the engine, anyone know the correct way to check and measure, also keen to work out the procedure for checking the rigging. Not to many Mooneys this side of the world so lames with the know are spread thin Cheers
  5. Ok Guys Doing some serious thinking, and looking for any comments on the Mooney Rockets. I’m about 2 weeks from jumping on plane and coming your side with the intent to purchase and have ferried back to Australia. To upgrade my old E model The Specs look great, and look to be great value for money. So brings me to the question, why do they appear so cheap in comparison to non modified Mooneys. And if anyone knows of a good value Rocket for sale Cheers Darren
  6. Hey Guys Thanks for the input, but still really looking for anyone with the experience with before and after with this mod, my main interest is in the airflow, as I think it’ll be a big trade off between the access to the instrument panel and airflow (airflow being the biggie for me) Cheers Darren
  7. G’day Just read your query and I might have the solution if the same has happened to you as it did to me when I first bought my E model 15 years ago, I found the brakes poor and would go to the floor, but if I pumped them fast the brake come up hard and responsive, after a bit of looking around, in a previous bit of work someone had left out the wave washers on the master cylinders ( allowing a little pressure on the cup and not allowing a slow bypass of pressure when the brakes were applied, fast reaction would hold these in place, slow action would allow a slow bypass) found a couple of washers and they’ve been perfect ever since I’ve always pressure bleed my brakes from the calliper with an oil can. Never any problems Hope this is helpful, let me know Cheers Darren
  8. G’day Guys I wondering if can pick a few members brains? I recently read a article on the web about the 201 style windscreen mod on a E model, where it was mentioned that the one of the advantages was that it increased the airflow through the over head vents (wondering if anyone can give me the before and after low down on mod, pro’s and con’s) I rebuilt my E model 8 years ago from head to toe and opted to leave all mods alone and certainly for the access to the instrument panel. Though at the drop of a had I’d do the Windscreen mod if in fact it increased a bit of air around my head, Australian summers and an early Mooney were not designed hand in hand Secondly has anyone had anything to do with the LoPresti Cowl for the E model Cheers and G’day from Down Under Darren
