Does anyone have any input about the shock absorber on the nose landing gear of a vintage Mooney. Mine (a 1968 F) still has the shock on it. I was told a few days ago that Mooney recommended removing it due to the possibility of it breaking and jamming the landing gear.

The switch is held firmly in place by the pressed nut. The knurled piece is all I need.
