  1. You're probably right, Jim. With the gear up, the wheels hang slightly downward to the back, putting the calipers out there in the wind. If the calipers are moved forward, they would go further up into the wheel well.
  2. Lood, I must confess, I'm in the same boat. I have no idea how it's supposed to work, but there are no new parts involved. I should have received the paperwork from LASAR on Friday, but there was an envelope mix-up in the shipping department. I got someone's M20TN keys instead. Maybe by next weekend...
  3. I ordered the brake STC from LASAR yesterday...if it gets here by the weekend, I will try to get it installed and signed off before the weekend is out and post some pics.
  4. During my recent (first) owner-assist annual, I realized how much the brake calipers really hang out in the breeze on my E and started thinking about the caliper reversal STC. Who owns that...LASAR? Does it work? Another option - is there such a thing as an STC to add inner gear doors that have the fairing over the brakes like the J+ models? Comparing mine to a hangar neighbor's J, it looks like the main door pushrod geometry is slightly different, but the parts look the same. Perhaps it could be as easy as simply installing the J parts on there with little or no modification? Thanks!
  5. I too am looking for panel light options. I still have the old style panel with the crappy plastic overlay, with post lights attached to the plastic, not the panel itself. It's awful. I would like to ditch the post lights and go to the NuLite ring lights, as this also gives me future flexibility when I convert my panel to a 201 style, as I can continue to use the NuLites and not lose that investment. I also plan to fabricate my own overhead panel and console, and ditch the crappy old spot lights and rheostats in favor of a solid state dimmer (compatible with the NuLites). Another option, though not sure if it would fly with the FSDO, is a strip LED under the glareshield, illuminating the entire panel.
  6. I'm planning to install new windows in my E in the next couple of weeks. What kind of cure time can I expect to see at 40 degrees (F)? I'd like to knock it out in a weekend if possible, but I have a 3rd-hand report of it taking a week or two to cure on another guy's plane...and that was in summer. Thanks!
  7. Jackhole. A quick survey of other posters reveals I'm not the only one. Perhaps Mooniac58 can change the software to NOT automatically post a gender if one isn't selected in the drop down box. I'm not in the habit of going through all the menus....
  8. Howdy! Scott here....I've owned N9240M - 1966 M20E - for exactly one year as of last week. I've put about 125 hours on her this year and absolutely loving it. 40M has not been upgraded far from stock (yet), except a cowl enclosure and the 3-blade prop (upgrade or downgrade is debatable ). I plan for 150kts to make the math easier but I usually end up at about 148kts true. I'm planning extensive mods over the next few years, assuming I don't outgrow the plane first, so if any of you have pics of restoration and upgrades, please post them! I have a 201 cowl in the attic and will begin collecting parts to install it next year. Other upgrades planned are removable/folding reat seats, new windows, new interior leather and plastics, 201 style instrument panel, 201 windshield, and the usual gamut of of fairings and gap seals. By the time I get all that done, maybe I can afford to do the IO-390 STC too....so barring unforeseen circumstances, I'll hopefully have the fastest E out there one of these days.
