  1. Does anyone have an owners manual or operating manual for a TechStar flight calculator?
  2. Mine works with my GNS430. I'm not sure about Sigma-Tek.
  3. Thanks, Theo. I will contact him.
  4. I need some advice from our esteemed membership. I am thinking about having an autopilot installed. Does anyone have any good REPUTABLE avionics shops close to western N.C? I think S-Tec with alt. hold would be my choice.
  5. Chris, I also have anywheremap PDA,(Dell), so that might be an option
  6. Guys, I'm trying to decide the best approach to paperless charts. Do you have any suggestions as to equipment, software, mounts, etc for a C model.
  7. Sorry....My bad.....
  8. Just for the heck of it.....here's a couple of videos of my Mooney... http://www.youtube.com/my_videos
  9. Ohhh.....by the way, Bob Bramble sent it at his cost to Georgetown Instruments, Taylor ,Tx.......the guys there are good..
  10. HSI reinstalled.....smooth as silk now.
  11. Well, guys, as luck would have it, my good old Edo-Aire HSI had another problem after i got it back from Bob Bramble. He fixed the sticky G/S flag, but then the CDI was binding on the gyro. So, I called Bob and he said send it back to him, which I did. He found some problems in the gyro so he sent it to a friend of his in Texas. He is overhauling it for about half what the "west coast" shops wanted , plus a 1 year warranty. Still costs 1395.00. But that's better than the 4k price I was quoted from the other guys. I will let you know more when I get it back in the plane probably this weekend.
  12. How in the world did that get in there 3 times?????
  13. Jose'.....I was afraid that a good shake might have cost me more than I could afford....hahah
  14. Well, guys......Bob Bramble worked his magic on my HSI. All works beautifully, and for $299. A lot less than I was quoted from a few places, who claimed that if they opened it up, it had to be overhauled to the tune of 3k. I would wholeheartedly recommend him for any instrument problems.
  15. Since I work in INDUSTRIAL instrumentation, I feel i can answer this question. Over time, small dust particles and general wear of the jeweled movement will generate enough dirt to cause problems in ANY mechanical meter movement. I see this almost every day. It is becoming more rare though, thanks to solid-state equipment......meaning LCD dispalys with no moving parts. But, as long as we have mechanical movements, this will always be a problem....
  16. Bob called yesterday and said that the meter movements needed cleaning, that was all.....$250 + shipping.......I'm pleased, so far. Will report on the HSI when I get it back in the plane.......
  17. Sent HSI to Bob Bramble yesterday........will report when I get it back.....
  18. Jose, I will try that first.....but gently, hahah
  19. I just talked to Bob Bramble on the phone and he said my problem was probably just a dirty movement in the GS flag. He seems like a very knowledgable guy and honest. Thanks for the references.....
  20. Guys, I have an Edo-Aire HSI and the glideslope flag will not "unflag". I talked to one repair facility and they wanted to do a full overhaul to the tune of almost 4,000. It was just o'hauled about 3 years ago with not a lot of hours on it. Any suggestions for a RELIABLE, honest repair shop that will only repair the problem and not try to take me for a ride....? Jimmy
  21. OK, guys....I need some guidance. My fuel pressure problem still rears it's ugly head from time to time. I have changed the mechanical fuel pump, found a pinhole in the fuel line coming from the carb. to the firewall, cleaned the snubber behind the gauge and it STILL sometimes goes to 0. It scares me some....but it always comes back up when I turn on the electric pump. I'm open to any suggestions.....
