  2. Anyone have experience with one of these in their long body Mooney? Need to take some measurements; not even sure if it would fit in the baggage of a long body/getting it out with a bunch of water weight post flight may be a pain. Buddy of mine uses it in his Cirrus and swears by it.   3. Thanks for the feedback so far everyone. We have lightly lubricated the shafts as a temporary fix until the yoke bushings come in (should be fairly soon). Seems to be a solution so far. Elevator/yoke has the slightest ounce of friction at that position still but no where close to the issue presented before. From those who have done this in past, in your opinion; is the lubrication temp fix deemed airworthy or should airplane stay on ground until new bushings arrive?

  5. M20S. During preflight, the elevator would bind/stick in the level pitch position (a lot more prominent in the hotter temperatures for some reason). A slight amount of force would get past the stick and also same issue when I moved the elevator via the yoke as well. Mechanic said the yoke bushings are the issue causing the yoke to bind at that spot. Lubrication on the yoke shafts seems to have fixed the issue temporarily; but we have ordered new yoke bushings to be installed. Any one else have similar issues in the past and found this to be the culprit? Thanks
  6. Thanks for the replies everyone! Quick (late delayed update...); quick drain valve and oil pan o rings were a bit worn causing a small drip of oil to eventually make its way down to the exit port where the sniffle valve is. New o rings and re secured during recent oil change, and clean bottom cowling and nose gear ensues. Thanks all for the feedback, as always! Safe flying!
  7. All, Been about a week or so since I flew my Mooney (M20S w/IO-550G) and noticed a few oil drops coming out of the sniffle valve onto the nose gear assembly and ultimately the hangar floor. Is this cause of concern? Haven't seen oil come out of this valve since purchasing ~70 hours ago. The normal oil blow out from the breather line on the left side of the nose gear doors I see; but this is the first from this valve. My mechanic says it's fine and normal ops for it to drip at times; but I thought it would be more of a fuel or fuel/oil mixture viscosity. Oil change next week where we will take a look once cowling is off for other potential causes, but thoughts or guidance appreciated as I plan on flying this weekend. Thanks!

  9. Hi Folks, IO550 310hp STC M20S owner here. Still figuring out my best hot start method after airplane was sitting for about an hour after landing; didn't look too graceful on the ramp and took a few attempts, but finally got it to start. When I went to lean the mixture after it started, the engine decided to quit. Re attempted another hot/flooded start sequence and everything was running fine. Did my run up and all checked out well; but when I went to idle (mixture full rich during run up); the engine wanted to quit. Quickly advanced throttle to around 1,000 RPM and engine ran smooth. No engine issues for the rest of the flight. Was this a case of vapor lock from the hot start? Have never seen this before on this engine. Any thoughts?

  11. I don't believe the Mooney Mover is engineered for a 4 blade just yet. The owner is working on it and hopefully will have something soon.

  16. Yeah he's great and very helpful. Sounds like it shouldn't be an issue, but as with everything in aviation.....will approach cautiously on first tow. Thanks for the input.
  17. I have searched through the topics and unable to find a definitive answer. Any 4 blade MT prop (or other manufacturer) long body Mooney drivers use a Sidewinder powered tow bar for their plane? Any issue with the prop blade width or tow clearance?

  21. Greetings All! Long time lurker and first time poster. Finally have decided to purchase a Mooney for our X-C family cruiser. Located in the Southeast with flying 90% limited to the region, so looking for a J which seems to check off all the boxes. (Reading posts on Mooneyspace has been a savior in making informed decisions and educating myself about this wonderful aircraft type). I have seen the aircraft available on the market on traditional aircraft sales websites in addition to staying up to date on Jimmy G's new to market updates. I wanted to throw out a post to see if there are any MS'ers that are thinking about selling their J or perhaps will be in the very near future. I, as well as the rest of the Mooney J potential acquirers it seems like, am looking for a mid to low TSOH, regularly flown and maintained, and a decent IFR package (not looking for all glass, but something that has been upgraded instrument/avionics/radio wise since the airplane was manufactured). Please reach out if you have anything available and are willing to discuss selling it. I appreciate it and the folks here providing great knowledge. Looking forward to being a Mooney owner soon!!
