  1. I've had this issue. Started getting a DNS error on ipad and laptop but could access via phone - cellular mode. Called ATT, ended up changing my DNS selection from Automatic to Manual and used Google's direct code 8.8.4.4 This fix worked on both ipad and laptop. Not sure what's going on - something funky in the internet domain registry being changed. Haven't noticed this change screwing anything else up so am keeping it.
  2. Having just gone thru this scenario I strongly recommend going with the plug-in to the cigarette lighter. I opted for the Garmin power port and my avionics shop, who apparently did not have much Mooney experience, messed up the install and caused me a lot of time and money chasing the intermittent problem, which turned out to be a dropped spacer from a dash installation screw that was rattling around behind my circuit breaker panel and randomly shorting circuits. Dugosh finally found it - high praise for them. In short, don't get into the panel unless you must. Also, who knows what the next USB-X plug adaptor will be. I shudder to think I might have to get behind the panel again to replace my USB-C port in the future.
  3. Not voting but my M20J has a dark color running from lower cowling to wing roots to lower half of fuselage extending to tail. I recommend this as it hides dirt, oil, fuel stains, chips, etc. very well and so I don't feel the need for a cleaning session after every flight. My previous plane had white in these areas and always seemed dirty. Congrats on the upgrades - a new paint job and interior will look & feel great!
  4. I am in need of same. Can we get a long-term update on these, please? Thanks!
  5. My plane has the Lasar combo tie-down/jack point bolts. Does anyone fly with the tie-downs / Jack points removed and just hand tighten them in when you need to tie down? I’m usually hangared so tie down infrequently. I haven’t removed them yet as the heads are stripped so it’s going to be a fun job.
  6. Thanks for this thread. I tested mine today and had continuity from both fuel ports to all three locations (tie down, exhaust, and nose gear trunnion). One thing I’ve done is make my own ground cable out of 16 gauge wire and two battery clips ($10 total at Lowe’s) as I’ve had 3 instances this year where a previous fueler screwed up the grounding wire spool and it was unusable.
  7. I just purchased a 1996 J. During transition training when we ran the King A/P preflight check the lights blinked as planned. My instructor thought there was also supposed to be audible beeps to confirm a successful test although I couldn’t find this in the POH A/P preflight instructions. Any other J owners out there with KAP-150 can confirm if your autopilot ‘beeps’ at preflight. Thanks.
  8. I recently purchased a 1996 J. The static wicks are removed. There are 15 of them. It looks like a paint shop in the past removed them and did not reinstall. Should I replace them? Are they required equipment? If replace, where does one buy them and are they easy to install? Avionics work fine. Thanks.
