  1. Would my M20C be approved since the battery is now behind the baggage area due to the LASAR cowl mod, or is it not approved due to where it was when it left the factory? I have a serious aft CG problem, and removing 20lb from the tail would be a huge help.
  2. Sounds almost exactly like what I just bought, except mine is a C and has the J cowl. The avionics and engine alone (my two main criteria) are worth about what I paid, plus as a first time owner, I was willing to pay a little more for a turnkey plane rather than a project.
  3. My previous owner claims to have put $70k into the panel: two G5s, GFC 500, GTN 650, GTX 345 and JPI 830. It’s an amazing IFR machine, which suits my mission. I’ll be down your way for Thanksgiving if weather cooperates, and next spring either way, so DM me if you want to see it in action.
  4. I had a similar concern; I posted on my local FB pilot group and within a day had an offer to come sit in one. That guy ended up being my CFI for the transition. I’m 6’3” and have no problems with legroom or headroom. My only complaint is width; I have broad shoulders, and my left arm is almost pinned against my body. However, the control throw is so small (compared to a Cessna, at least) that it doesn’t affect my flying at all.
  5. My CFI’s M20G and my M20C both like to take off (and land) with about 3/4 nose-up trim, not even close to the marking on the indicator. Maybe they’re out of rig; we just tried different settings until we found what felt “right”, then use that every time.
