  1. No debate about the leaks - I have a major one after panel upgrade - looking for the source now. Heat disparity wasn’t noticeable until that leak occurred. Now, pretty uncomfortable to fly in the cold. Have to develop “seasonal” fixes that are easy to modify as temperature fluctuates through the year. I’ll update with the results of closing the caps and anything else I end up doing.
  2. Will do! Thanks for the suggestion, Takair!
  3. Lapeer Aviation at KFNT (Flint, MI) is a certified Mooney Service shop. Estimate without referencing EFB is about 1.5 - 2 hrs from Chicago. Reasonable cost and very good reputation.
  4. Hi All! My apologies if this topic is a revisit, but couldn't find anything in the search... Own a 1965 "E". the cabin heat is much stronger on the copilot side than the pilot side. There are adjustable covers for the scat tube openings where the warm air exits the system into the cabin beneath the panel, but they don't seal the end of the scat tubing, just provide some resistance to the free flow of air emanating from it. Curious to know if anyone else has run into this issue and has devised an effective solution prior to me trying to MacGyver it myself...
  5. I just upgraded the panel on my 1965 “E”. Don’t have flightstream, so can’t comment on that. I have the stacked G5’s, 355 and Aera 760. Very happy so far. Still figuring how to use it all.
  6. Thank you for your responses! The flat coil is a nifty approach, but hard to replicate. I have the Flight Enhancements alternative to the vacuum retraction installed. It’s nice, but no idea how much weight it will “lift”, so have to be wary of too much spring force pulling against it. @Takair, I will probably see what I can find locally for a replacement spring, but will be in touch if no “quick” success. Thanks, everyone!
  7. Hi everyone! Anyone know what the spring force is for the flat coil spring that helps to deploy the retractable step? I just removed the vacuum system from my 1965 “E” and removed the bellows servo, etc (for sale if wanted by anyone) for the retractable step. Was cleaning up the shaft for the step and the brackets that the step shaft traverses through and noticed that the coil spring is a bit beaten up so would like to replace it. Need to know the right spring force / length / etc. Anyone?
  8. Hello All! I am interested in knowing what the consensus on this topic is now more than a year later. I’m doing a major panel upgrade currently without updating the existing Insight GEM, but planning next year to finish upgrade with new GEM (JPI 930 or Gi 275) and new Xpdr. So any new takes on this topic would be appreciated. Thanks!
