  1. Im new to aviation and Im finding that about 50% of the discussions involve certification bs. There are too many people with linear thinking who abide solely by the wording even if it defies logic. The FAA knows there are issues which is why they leave a lot to the discretion of the mechanics to sign things off. As a new airplane owner I find the real challenge is finding intelligent mechanics that can see the big picture, understand the bureaucracy, and put SAFETY before anything else, and I believe the FAA would agree with what Im saying. LED bulbs will ALWAYS be safer than the $3 certified incandescent. Even if its a home depot bulb. Technology has rocketed past bureaucracy. It only takes a middle school education to understand this yet these hard-lined bureaucrat(idiot) mechanics cant see this. Luckily these type of mechanics are the 50%. I always give a dummy test when I talk to a mechanic. So far, in a year, only once has a person failed and it was an ex-attorney.
