  1. Thanks all! We will continue to troubleshoot and report our findings.
  2. Thanks ArtVandelay! Great idea! That was one of ours too. We tried closing the vent to see if the airflow was diverted around the black putty and down the sidewall and no luck either. There was no change with the vent open or closed. We are going to swap the audio panel and then pull the interior to check the wiring and connections.
  3. Hello, we have a new issue that I’m hoping someone has seen before and has solved. Our passenger headsets developed a crackle and popping sound, to a level above annoyance and almost to unbearable. The sound is only in the passenger headsets jacks, both traditional and lemo. The sound seems to be only while talking on the intercom. Most importantly, the crackle and pop ONLY happens at speeds greater than 150kts. Furthermore, the noise is only in the right ear of both rear passenger headset jacks. The noise gets to such a high level where we loose the right channel all together. As soon as we slow to under 150(ish)kts, the right channel comes back on with light crackle and pop sounds. The aircraft is a late model M20R that was 100% gutted and rewired per the Garmin STC instruction manuals. The aircraft is equipped with a G500 TXi, GTN 750 Xi, 650 Xi, GMA 35c, duel GI 275’s, GTX345R, GFC500, etc. While flying above 150kts, and experiencing the cracking sound, we have tried multiple Bose headsets in both traditional and powered lemo jacks. We have tried pulling circuit breakers to see if another device was causing the disturbance and no luck. There are no problems at full power on climb, or any other time other than at over 150kts. Anyone have ideas?
  4. Thank you all! Keep them coming. It is a shame a company has not made replacement annunciator panels for all aircraft. I’ve worked with this company, but it has been a pain to get things approved. https://aerosafetysystems.com
  5. Thanks Lance, that is the plan. We’ve heard different things so we figured we’d get some input.
  6. Good morning Mooney Space! I've seen a few other topics that had died out without concreate answers on the removal of the annunciator panel found in Mooney instrument panels. My question is, can the factory annunciator panel be removed when installing modern avionics such as a Garmin G500 TXi with EIS? Does this deviate from how the aircraft was originally certified? Current annunciations: Gear Down, Gear Unsafe, Left Fuel, Right Fuel, Speed Brake, Alt Air, Prop Deice, Pitot Heat, HI/LO Vav, Alt Volts, Start Power, STBY Vac, Trim Fail, Emerg Bus, Boost Pump. The Garmin G500 TXi with EIS and the GFC 500 autopilot will replace most of these. I am pretty sure of the answer, I just figured I would ask to ask! Lastly, without clouding the original question, has anyone replaced the annunciator bulbs with LED bulbs (annunciator, not post lights)? If so, how do they dim and do they affect any other systems?
  7. Thank you! Was this mounted in an inspection plate or the wing?
  8. Amazing! Can you shoot me a picture of the probe under the wing?
  9. Hi RBP, Are you running the Garmin probe under the wing?
  10. Thanks PT20J! it seems the calibration is a bit tricky. Though the AOA does not interface to the GFC, some of the safety features in the GFC make the calibration a bit difficult. Do you have the Garmin AOA probe under the wing?
  11. Thank you Carusoam! Great points on everything! We are doing our homework for a customer who has been looking into the AOA systems. The LHS is great! We’ve installed many of them! I think, at the end of the day, jewelry for the aircraft can never hurt. Especially if they’re tools that can be used. Installing these devices in many different makes and models can be difficult as the wings and inspection plates are all different. You are totally right about having the unit mounted in your line of sight. Thank you very much for your response, it is greatly appreciated
  12. Thanks Pinecone, I have quite a few customers and friends who have installed, and like them. They all say they help. It is interesting to hear input from owners of different makes of aircraft. I can only imagine flying a T-38 and A-10!
  13. Thank you EarthboundMisfit, I really appreciate the pictures. We are wondering about installing the Garmin unit. I’m curious about the space required in the wing. It looks like your system uses the entire inspection panel. I’ve also heard a few things about the calibration procedures being difficult with a GFC500 autopilot. More things to look into! Thank you for your reply!
  14. Thank you KSMooniac, I’ve heard the same thing. A friend has installed several units in his aircrafts and say they are a must. The glareshield mounted units seem to be the best as well. The G500/600 TXi’s don’t display the AOA so the glareshield unit seems to fit the need. Thank you for your input!
  15. Hello all, Has anyone installed the Garmin GI-260 AOA Indication System, or similar systems from other brands in their Mooney? If so, How do you like it? Is there a brand/system you prefer? Can you share pictures of the installation? Can you share any possible downsides from installing an AOA system?
