    My go-to since I separated from the Air Force has been good old Chuck Taylors. Thin soles, very little bulk to the entire shoe, and minimal tread. I used to notice aggressive tread on combat boots would grab some rudder pedals, but the Chucks don't have enough tread to do that. If I have to look a little nicer, I have a pair of Danner chukka boots with similar characteristics, but full leather, polishable, etc.
