We had the Tailbeacon and it was easy to install. My first unit didn't work properly, but uAvionix customer service was great and the second Tailbeacon worked very well until we did a total avionics overhaul.

Thanks to all who helped in our search to find a Mooney. We’re now the proud owners of N2997L. I wanted to say a little about the previous owner, Steve and his wife Lynne. Steve unexpectedly “flew West” recently, and we hope to carry on in Steve and Lynne’s tradition of meeting people and making friends while flying. I’m including a note here from Lynne: My Mooney is going West. I will meet the new pilot this Friday at KGBG before she flys to Chino, CA and continues life with a new family. My cousin had Warbirds out that way, and I've spent happy hours there, so I guess it's fitting that the new hangar will be in CA. I have to admit, my heart is broken. An airplane is more than cables and safety wire, skin and steam gauges. An airplane is a magic carpet that allows one to view a different perspective on earth and sky and, yes, life. It connects us with people and places and events that paint memories for when, at some point, that is all that is left. It is joy and freedom.

UPDATE I found a solution. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions and advice! MS has been a huge help!

PM sent Yes FBO will provide tools, jacks, supplies, etc.

No, the seller's widow does not want to deal with having the plane moved, so I've agreed to arrange a pre-buy onsite.

Poplar Grove Airmotive won't travel to do a prebuy. Bummer!

I'm under contract on a 1967 Mooney M20C, https://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/196005075/1967-mooney-m20c. Per the seller's wishes, I need to have a PPI done onsite in Macomb, IL. Any suggestions? The FBO in Macomb will provide tools and jacks for the inspection. Tanks were resealed by Weep No More in January 2018.

Eyes on Mooney M20F @KGMJ (Grove, Oklahoma)
Paulyslug replied to Paulyslug's topic in Vintage Mooneys (pre-J models)
@carusoam Agreed that demand seems to be outstripping supply for correctly priced, regularly flown planes. To that end, the below plane was under contract in one day. I know since I inquired about two hours too late! http://www.steveweaver.com/n137dm.htm I've been using the https://themooneyflyer.com/tools.html to value planes. As an owner of multiple vintage autos, I realize that the money you put into upgrades doesn't come back to you dollar for dollar. In our plane search, I've found that some sellers attempt to recoup dollar for dollar, which makes negotiations more challenging. The other obstacle, I've come across is the plane that has been sitting for a long time and the seller doesn't want to price the engine accordingly. Since the search started, I've been in escrow once, which didn't close because of issues discovered during the PPI. Here's a little bit about us and what we're looking for in a plane: UL of 950lbs or above as we'd like to fly with full fuel if at possible Family of four that weighs less than 550lbs Fits in the back seat of a short body Mooney Thanks to @Skates97 for helping confirm this! Turnkey plane IFR/Complex Pilot ~400hours Willing to pay approximately what mooneyflyer calculator says Mission - Weekly flights in SoCal Airspace - 1x Per Month flights of ~500NM or less - 1x Per 3 to 4 Months flights of ~750NM - 1x USA Cross Country Plane Trip to visit relatives Wishlist - WAAS GPS - Coupled AP that can fly approaches, but at a bare minimum AP with alt hold - Aspens would be nice - Johnson Bar Nice but not necessary. We had a little landing gear issue with an Arrow, we resolved it, but it made me see the value in the JBAr. We currently rent: DiamondStar DA40, not enough UL Piper Arrow II Slow, expensive, not available, UL @860 172 for those days you just don't feel like yourself... -
I used Premier at Ft. Lauderdale for a prebuy on an M20F, and they were excellent.

N9002N @ZuluZulu you are correct. -
I'm interested in purchasing a plane in Savannah, Georgia, based at KSAV, and wondered if anyone could put eyes on the plane for me before I started a formal PPI process. I live in Southern California, so going to check it out myself is a little difficult. Thanks in advance for considering the request. If you are willing and able to help out, please PM me, and we'll take it from there.

Shout out to MikeOH & his wife for showing us their beautiful F! The visit solidified our desire to pursue a Mooney and we're focusing on a F or J. On a related note, Dubois never got back to me, but I will try them again. -

koropates Yes, I told them I was interested in CFI with plane, we'll see what they come back with. I also like the idea of the J at Pinnacle vs. the Bs at Dubois and AcesHigh.
